Re: Pearl Jam to play SNL April 15th
That would defnitely be the best case scenario. I would take Hungerstrike or Say Hello 2 Heaven over any of the other Pearl Jam songs we mentioned.Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsMatt Damon should join them and they should perform a song under the band name Citizen Dick.
Or Chris Cornell could show up...Comment

You mean Matt Dillon.Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsMatt Damon should join them and they should perform a song under the band name Citizen Dick.
Well, I'm not from Marietta, but it's where I'm currently living. Right now, we're off of Bells Ferry right before Hwy 41.Originally posted by ADA885I'd love to hear "Better Man" or "Black." But off topic, where in Marietta are you from BGarrett?, that's my home town.Comment

I have an idea where you're at. I live off of Lassiter and Johnson's Ferry Rd. but go to school here at Auburn.Originally posted by BGarrett7You mean Matt Dillon.

Not that far off, just take Sandy Plains across Canton Rd. and you're pretty much there. According to Google Earth, Johnsons Ferry/Lassiter is exactly 7 miles from Bells Ferry/Hwy 41.Originally posted by ADA885I have an idea where you're at. BINGO!! You don't think that's "still being relevent"? Almost every "modern rock" band has a lead singer in it that tries to sound like Eddie Vedder. Why? Because his voice rocks and the band kicked major ***!!Originally posted by CM1847They aren't relevent anymore. They were HUGE back then, and as long as they stay together they will be huge concert draws from now until they are 80, but on the mainstream music scene, they don't mean anything(other than the hoards of bands who make careers out of trying to impersonate Vedder's vocal style).

Key word, "kicked", they haven't kicked anything in years. Eddie Vedder is a plant on stage, if he moves while singing now, it's only because he has an itch.Originally posted by TJdaSportsGuyBINGO!! Re: Pearl Jam to play SNL April 15th
Being relevent involves moving units, having the radio latch onto your stuff, and most importantly, getting people hyped up about your stuff the minute the words "new album" start getting thrown around. They haven't had a new-release album go platinum since Live On Two Legs did four years ago, and that was after it sat on shelves for just as long. The last time the had an album ship platinum was for Yield, which came out the same year as LOTL. And, sure, Binaural and Riot Act had nice debuts -- #2 and #5, respectively -- but it took both a number of weeks before they even went gold, and we're still waiting on them to hit the one million mark. Last big radio hit? "Given To Fly" from Yield. They've barely even cracked the top ten mainstream rock tracks since then, and that's including the time when "Last Kiss" was released. The numbers don't lie, they simply aren't a relevent band anymore when it comes to the mainstream. Could that change with the new album and "World Wide Suicide"? Sure, it's a possibility with the direction modern rock radio has been going in the past few years. Not to mention there are a lot of stations around the country right now that are trying desperately to appeal to that 18-34 crowd who still desperately need and want to hear material from bands they know. But, as of right how, when the hype should really start to build around the album and word-of-mouth should start spreading, they simply don't have the relevence that a band of their stature should.Originally posted by TJdaSportsGuyYou don't think that's "still being relevent"?Comment

Actually, World Wide Suicide debuted at #6 this week on the Mainstream Rock list(and #3 in Modern Rock).Originally posted by BGarrett7Last big radio hit? "Given To Fly" from Yield. It should be interesting to see who gets the top spot the week of May 2nd with Pearl Jam's and Tool's new albumed scheduled to be released during the same week. Pearl Jam has a more mainstream following, but Tool's got that cult following.
I'll be picking up both as soon as I wake up that morning.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

Vets II | Washington Redskins(13-6) | Last Game: L 37-34 OT @ ATL (NFC Conference Championship)

Tool will crush Pearl Jam unless the second Pearl Jam single is released before then and it blows up, which is doubtful.Originally posted by TimmeHIt should be interesting to see who gets the top spot the week of May 2nd with Pearl Jam's and Tool's new albumed scheduled to be released during the same week. BGarrett pretty much sums up my thoughts on their relevance. Music today owes a lot to Pearl Jam, but that doesn't mean they are still a major factor in mainstream music. With some luck the new album might go gold within a couple months of being released. They will still sell tickets to shows, but they aren't going to take over the charts. Word is that radiostations put "World Wide Suicide" on their playlists the week it came out, but now it only gets played by request. Even the short, rocking single like that doesn't work for them anymore in the general music listening public's eyes. Great band, I love them, but they are supported by their core group of fans and stellar live shows. Their radio relevance died after "Given To Fly", they needed an obscure 50s cover song to get any radio play after that and their two latest albums haven't made dents on the singles charts(although a lot of that has to do with Epic's horrible treatment they gave them over the past 5 years, maybe the new label will help out more).Comment

Re: Pearl Jam to play SNL April 15th
Remember, the show is tonight!
I really hope the band does something to get people talking(not necessarily controversy-wise, just a really good/unique performance).
Has anyone else seen the promos for the show? I never thought I'd see Lohan and PJ in the same space.I drive a 2005 Toyota Prius Gas/Electric Hybrid. My last tank was 53.6 miles/gallon. Gas prices fear me!
