In the end many people will leave this movie feeling like they missed something. While others will fell compelled to ask did the movie run too long was there enough closure, and should I be happy or disappointed in the outcome. Mark me down some where in between I appreciate the multi sided ending (you'll understand what I mean when you see it), but I also felt the movie was drawn out too far not to tie up some of the loose ends.

    I give the movie a 7.8

Nice humor, Smart and Thought provoking.

I think a lot of people leave a little shocked because there was no big government scandal twist or anything in the end. Case being invovled with the Nazi's is a decent "shocker", but you find that out with about an hour to go in the movie. The previews with the line "bank robbery? this ain't no bank robbery!" really makes you expect some huge twist, but it never comes. It is either excellent marketing or terrible marketing, I can't decide which.

I thought it was excellent marketing. It obviously got people interested in the movie and with no real twist, at least no twists that anybody was thinking about, came to be. I loved the movie myself and thought the ending was really good. It would have been great without the cliche "bumping into the guy" scene.

I lean towards it being good marketing. The twist ends up being that there isn't a twist at all, interesting way to do things, but it works. so many movies recently feel the need for some giant twist, it is shocking to see one without a twist.

I agree about the bumping into Denzel part, it was bad. Needed to push Clive Owen's character even more into the likable side of things, and to show his respect for Denzel's character. But it was just SOOOOO Hollywood with him leaving the exact same time Denzel was coming in. They could have stopped by his mailbox and dropped off a diamond or something, didn't have to be so Hollywood about it.

Any preview that gets someone interested in the movie without giving away the whole plot is good marketing. Previews give away too much these days.

Look at The Sentinel...Wouldn't it be a more enjoyable movie experience if you didn't know Michael Douglas' character was going to be framed and his former partner would have to confront him? Maybe it's good marketing and that's not what happens...but probably not.

It's still the lesser of two evils since previews that give away the whole plot have important uses. The preview for Firewall gives you the entire plot and anyone who saw it knew that the movie would be terrible.

I don't understand the role of the pen recorder. Why did Denzel record Foster's voice. Am I missing something?

He didn't trust her so he used it as an insurance policy in case she tried to outsmart him.

With that movie, I thought after the preview that Douglas was the mole, but then I read online that he, infact, wasn't. So I guess you could say that they did a good job on that trailer, IMO.

I saw this movie last night and thought it was pretty good. I thought that they could have done a better job of editing it down to 1hr 45min...instead of dragging it out. Also, I thought the "coincidental" chance of Clive and the detective bumping into each other was over the top. Clive was already on the likable side, no need for the extra "Robin Hood" push.

I didn't find Clive on the likable side one bit. I wanted him to get caught. He was a theif.

The DVD comes out August 8th. I'm picking this up for sure. This is the best movie I've seen this year.

I'm going to be watching the film for the 2nd time soon.

Extras will include an audio commentary with director Spike Lee, deleted scenes, a Making of Inside Man featurette, and a Number 4 featurette.

Just watched it, great, great flick. It was very smart, almost too smart for it's own good. The directing and pace of the movie was fantastic. The bank robbery was genius. And till I read through this thread, I didn't make the connection for Bin Laden and the opening character. Great movie.

Got to give props to Spike Lee. I saw this movie in May and it's really solid.

Heh, I watched it this afternoon too. Really great. Spike Lee really knows how to put together a cast for a movie and this one was no exception. I agree that the run-in at the end was a little Hollywoodized, but the rest of the story was so tight and Denzel held it together so well that it really didn't bother me.

Initially I didn't like all the flash-forwards with the people telling the story, because I felt like it was giving away too much of the story and I wanted it to unfold by itself. But they really served a purpose and added to the arc of the story. I also really liked the title, because the whole time I was thinking, "Who's the inside man? Did they have a man on the inside who worked for the bank or something?" Then Owen's character removes the detachable piece of wall and I was like....oh.

Really good movie. Spike's best work since another of my favorite movies, 25th Hour.

Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.
