    King Kong on DVD

This is Peter Jackson's version of the movie, so it is a rather long movie. Its listed at 3hrs. and 8 min. I don't know how much of the movie is his version and how much of it is copied from the original. I never saw the original as a whole, just the ending. Kong is a real beast taking all the beating and yet still surviving, great scene when he is fighting the T-Rex. I really liked the movie and would recommend people see, and we could be out of copies by night tomorrow (thank goodness I don't close).

There were some parts that remained the same, but the characters, including Kong were better developed in Jackson's remake than in the original. The throw-backs to the original in Jackson's remake were well played too, pretty cool to pick up on when watching.

How much longer could this movie possibly be?

        Is it worth a rent?

        I've heard mixed reviews

Have you seen the movie? If you haven't then I personally wouldn't recommend it because it is a very bad movie. Of course this is just my opinion.

Yes. I loved the movie and thought time flew by. If you can get past the "giant gorilla falls in love with a girl" mentality and get into the characters and the relationships between them, then it should at least become a good movie.

I saw the movie twice in the theater, first time I got really tired of it, the second time I really enjoyed the movie. I think it had to do with me knowing what to expect. I'd recommend everyone at least give it a try on DVD.

I saw it twice as well. Enjoyed it the first time and loved it the second.

I honestly think that the stretched parts in the movie were in the action. The dialogue was something that was rather balanced well in the movie, but the action scenes were FAR too long! At least I could sit and watch this movie.

I can't honestly say that I would see this movie any more than over 5 times, and that's not worth a buy for me. Someday I'll rent this again, but not now.

You may like it, though. There's definitely no reason why you wouldn't. Time isn't a factor IMO.

The scary thing is there's an extended edition planned for the Xmas season. So if you have nothing to do between Xmas and New Years that version should pretty much take up all your free time.

I don't see what all the commotion is about, as Jackson comsumed well over 11 hours with that LOTR trilogy boxset.

Well I think each LOTR movie is a little more indepth than a giant gorilla in heat which could be told in less than 2 hours if they didn't spend 70 minutes getting to the island. It seems Jackson spends all his production budget on CGI rather than film editors. Plus he's a shill for the studios with these bogus EE DVD sets of the same movie just to further gouge the fanboys. Not to mention all the preKong making of crap that was released at the same time as the movie.

I thought the first 30min of the movie dragged but once the action got going it was pretty intense.
