A couple of my friends didn't like it, thought it was too long, but I liked it alot. Jackson really is this generation's Spielberg.

I thought it was absolutely amazing. People gripe about the lingering "eye" shots, but I felt they really fleshed out the characters. And whing about length to me is pointless, as I would rather have characters I care about as opposed to cookie cutters.

This depends. It's King Kong, and if you know the story, well, you know the story.
If you've got a top-notch theater set up, it's an absolute blast, as this movie caters to the viewer with the dynamic, dedicated theater setup with a top notch base. It embellishes a bit for the sake of that.
If you're watching on a 27-inch with no surround, could be a long sitting.
Plus, you've got the social issues surrounding the movie that ticked off some of the black community. NO, I'm not getting into that though.Comment

It's almost as bad as all the doomsayers for the upcoming "DaVinci Code" film (it will brainwash you because you can't think independently) or the outcry over "V for Vendetta" (anti-Christian, anti-capitalist, pro-terror).
