For sirius, don't you only need the receiver and that's it? (well aside from a subscription too)

I've tried out both and I personally like XM the best. There is a variety choice of stations and my personal favs are the dance and aol stations.

normally they come with the car kit... but if ya want to listen to it in the house, you would need to get the home kit

rockinmike, i have an Alpine MP3 player as well and although it says XM ready on it, it is also Sirius ready. I thought I had to buy something new as well, but it's already compatible which is huge.

                  This is all you need...

Whether it’s new hip-hop and classic comedy or ‘90s jams and sports podcasts, everything you want to hear lives here at SiriusXM.

It is really easy, run the cable from the module to the head unit and mount the antenna. It took me about 15-20 minutes to install for my radio and I am far from being mechanically inclined.

Ok thanks. Looks like I am going to wait since I want it at home and the MP3 player is over $200 (want to listen to it on my headphones). Still the $12.99/month isn't bad.

Well, for a while (and possibly still) the MyFi's were $100. I know they're coming out with new ones (can't remember the name of the one, but they gave them to O&A already) that are smaller than the MyFi and probably better overall. And of course, like it has been said, it'll be LIVE audio, rather than having to record it like Sirius.

I was wondering how does XM or Sirus exactly work? I have a radio that I think says its XM Ready or Sirus I am not sure...How would I go about getting XM Radio or Sirus? Does it cost something?

I have a CD player in my car....Would I be able to keep that and get a sirus or XM radio?

I hope some of this makes since,I am new to this.

If it's XM ready it means it's got an input for an XM reciever. You would need to get the receiver installed and probably the XM antenna, I believe.

BTW, I have XM, and highly recommend it.
