If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if Lupe Fiasco will be on that list in the future. The kid is serious.

          Hell yea, Lupe is sick!

For all you guys saying that these underground guys should be on this list, your out of your mind. What makes a great MC?? Certainly not being an underground rapper. What makes 2pac and Biggie so great is that they had sick beats they were versitile they were real and spoke their mind and they could rap about anything and they weren't scared to be different. I'm not saying underground rappers suck but theres a reason they are underground and its not just because they are keeping it "real."

            Co-sign both your statements

            1. Lupe is serious, I cant stop bumping this 64 track mixtape I got.

            2. I swear OS is the backpacker capitol of the world. If you sold one album, you suck by most OS peoples standards.

Have you heard the Food & Liquor by Lupe? That album is crazy good. It got leaked, there are like 3 or 4 songs missing. Very smooth.

word ... everybody is on that backpack/nerd rap - which is no worse then mainstream . there are great rappers in both ...

as for me - far from a backpacker . i listen to some backpack rap but i still listen to the t.i.s , little waynes and jay-z is my favorite rapper of alltime .
                  i couldnt be a backpacker.

i think joe budden could end up being a candidate for one of the greats .
he can go from making club jams- pump it up , in da club remix to deep tracks such as 10 minutes and 3 sides to a story to some ill battle raps - dumb out .

                  dude is the future.

Yup. And it's ill. The more I listen to it, the more it grows on me. The kid is a breath of fresh air. I've been waiting for someone to grab my attention like this for a minute. I got the Food and Liquor album thats out, but even better, I got the Food and Liquor mixtape which is 64 tracks and it includes all of the leaked album as well as some freestyles and whatnot.

Yeah man, off top, just to get an idea of the kind of people I listen to are: Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Wu-Tang, Big L, The Lox, Big Pun, (Old) Mobb Deep, The Game, Dipset, Fabolous, Cassidy, Joe Budden (one of my favorites), Royce da 5'9" (another HUGE favorite), Eminem, AZ, Cormega, Black Star, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco (cant get enough of him right now), (old) DMX, Canibus, almost anything Bad Boy puts out (Ma$e, Diddy, Shyne, G. Dep, even Da Band... loved the show), and so on and so forth. I'm not an underground head at all. I dont listen to it mainly because the music isnt as easy to get ahold of, find in stores, etc.

I think if you're into underground and that's your thing, cool. I just dont like the mentale that if more than one person has heard of you, you're no longer a dope MC. I think that backpackin is more about bein on some ish that few people know about (read: being "cool") than it is about the music. I know thats a messed up thing to say, especially from a guy who just admitted that he really isnt into the whole underground rap thing, but I remember someone from this site saying "I dont listen to any mainstream rap, just underground". What about being heard by more than 3 people makes the music that bad? I dont get it. And the thing that really gets me, is people complain and complain about their underground guy not getting any love, but once MC Foodstamp gets a legit record deal, those same people will hate on him and call him a seellout. Crazy.

I suppose it depends on what you define as 'mainstream'. I like most of the guys you mentioned with the exceptions of the Bad Boy trash, Dipset and Cassidy. When most underground heads are complaining about mainstream rap, I don't think they're talking about Nas, Biggie, AZ, etc.

I think it's more 50, Lil Jon, Nelly, J-Kwon, Franchise Boys, Yin Yang Twins, and lots of the stuff that gets played on the radio and in the clubs non-stop. I think there's a time and a place for the mindless rap, and I don't really have a problem with it, but it seems like lots of people do.
