Re: Best Sports Trophy?
All of the other trophies are pretty bland, in my opinion. I'm no hockey fan, but the Stanley Cup not only looks good but has the greatest amount of tradition involved with it. When they show the trophy during the broadcast and say "And this is what they're playing for..." none of the other trophies give you chills. The NBA and Lombardi trophies are kind of bland looking, and the World Series one has changed a lot. Plus, those three sports are more associated with rings than trophies, "And (insert longtime veteran here) is looking to finally capture that ring" rather than associating the champhionship with the trophy. The only advantage those trophies have is that the teams get to keep them and display them while the Cup is always on the move. The crystal football is just tacky and stupid looking.Last edited by Misfit; 04-23-2006, 01:34 PM.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Best Sports Trophy?
Lord's Stanley Cup by a country mile. No other trophy even belongs in the same league.
I've been to the Hockey Hall of Fame and got to touch and take a picture with the Stanley Cup (a worker told me it was an exact replica). I wanted to pick up the Cup and pump it over my head a few times like the players do, but that wasn't allowed.
Just think about the history of the Cup. The Cup even has a full time handler who has to wear gloves.
I like it how it has the names of the players and staff from the winning team. Plus there's an unofficial rule for the players that you can't touch the Cup unless you've won it.
And of course the players get to keep it for 24hrs. It's been taken to house parties, strip clubs, charity functions, etc... I'm sure a few folks have even taken a number 2 on the Cup.. LOLComment

Re: Best Sports Trophy?
I love the WS trophy. All those flags and stuff just are beautiful. The Stanley comes in a close second though. Man, the NBA championship trophy is so bland. Need to have something on there like all the team names and their years they've won or something. I wonder if they can update the trophy. Have any trophies been updated ever??
Now, I have to admit that this one is the prettiest one I've seen.
And the ugliest in my honest opinion
Looks like something I'd get at the flea market or something. So rough and rusty looking.......Comment

Re: Best Sports Trophy?
I'd go with one of the soccer trophies, as it represents winning on a stage greater than that of just a single country.
World Cup trophy, or perhaps the UEFA Cup.
In America, it's clearly the Stanley Cup, but on a world level, I am not sure how highly it is held, seeing that it only is competed for by teams in North America.Enjoy football? Enjoy Goal Line Blitz!Comment
