Of recent shows that I've watched, Ron Swanson is my favorite.

 Re: Funniest TV Characters?

Wow...Kirk. He's an underrated one for sure. Pretty sure he is now the guy who plays the D&A counselor on Breaking Bad.

Dear John was a pretty meager show, but Kirk was a shining light of the time. Played the self-absorption role well!

 Talk about reviving a thread!

I also liked Kirk from Dear John. The show wasn't the greatest but that character and the theme song were memorable.

Larry and Balki from Perfect Strangers were the '80s answer to Laurel and Hardy.

 Love Sheldon Cooper on TBBT

Dan Fielding on Night Court was the best A-hole/womanizer ever. John Larroquette (sp?) really got pigeonholed for a while because of that role.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
