Loving some of the Marvel Now books. The main ones are Captain America, Cable and X-Force, All New X-Men and Indestructible Hulk. And eagerly awaiting Uncanny X-Men in February.

Don't see any X-Men in the Age of Ultron PR... Disappointed for some reason, thought they weren't gong to have the big events add isolated to just X-Men or Avengers books/rosters.

I do too, Uncanny X-men 173. I had read comics before then, but that whole arc/transformation for Storm is what made me a hardcore comic book fan. At that time it was such an atypical narrative for a mainstream superhero comic(female hero at that) that it really resonated with me.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

That whole era was one of my favorite times in the X-Men. Going up to around the time Bishop was introduced. Near issue 300

Not to mention that issue also featured a badass Wolverine vs Silver Samurai fight.

Won 6 Bowen busts on EBay tonight fit a total of like $140 before shipping.

I may have a problem, lol.

                  Re: Comic Book Fans....

Best Marvel book this week for me was Wolverine and the X-Men. I love it when the pace slows down a bit and it becomes more of a slice of life type of deal what with the date between Bobby and Kitty, the exchange between Quentin Quire and the teenaged Jean Grey and the Wolverine/Storm thing. (though that kinda rung a bit hollow to me) This was an excellent issue after the craziness of the Frankenstein circus arc.

Honestly most of the X-Books are pretty good and I commend Marvel for the whole Marvel Now thing as it really gave me a jumping on point to that corner of the Marvel U.

One last thing, Uncanny Avengers this week was a lot better than the last two issues and the story makes a lot more sense now in terms of why the Red Skull is doing what he's doing.

Anywho, while i'm a DC guy I have to say that Marvel is across the board far more consistent in quality.

I'll give thoughts on DC this week either tomorrow or Saturday.

Has anyone tried reading comics thru Amazon's Kindle app? Would you consider it good enough compared to comixology?

The reason I ask is because most of the graphic novels I want to buy are on Amazon and I'd much prefer buying them in graphic novel format over single issues. Plus, comixology seems to be lagging in the graphic novel front.

I'm probably going to give Wolverine and The X-Men a try.

My favorite X-Man (Colossus), 2 of my favorite villians (Magneto, Apocalypse), 2 badasses (Wolverine, Sabertooth) and Rhino (have his first appearance).

I'm going to get some small shelves to display them and put a couple of comics framed behind them.

A much nicer collection coming from just Ultron and Leader.

With just a couple of exceptions (Juggernaut, Galactus, maybe a couple of others) I managed to get most of the busts I've wanted since I decided to start collecting them.

You won't be disappointed, the book is remarkably self contained in that while it references other goings on in the X-universe and every once in a while gets sucked into the crossovers it still retains a lot of its character. It's neck and neck between New X-Men and Wolverine and the X-Men for my fave X-Book.

                            Anywho....Onto DC

Well the H'El on Earth storyline in the Superman family of books is starting to collapse on its weight but it looks like it could be ending soon or morphing into something else so that's a good thing. I really enjoyed the Superboy Annual with Superboy and Superman trapped in that dimensional prison. The banter between the two was excellent and I loved how Superboy kept calling Supes out on his unintentional condescension and how Supes kept pointing out how snarky Superboy was.

More set up in the main Bat-Books for he finale of Death Of The Family though Nightwing was pretty intense. Moving further out in the Bat-Family of books the 2nd part of the Black Diamond 2 parter in Catwoman was a lot stronger and more straightforward than the first part but I really have to make a general complaint. Ann Nocenti might've been a pretty good writer back in the '80s but so far she can't hack it IMO. Her short run on Green Arrow was virtually unreadable and her run on Catwoman has been well....Pretty much the same BUT she does pull off a nice issue here or there like this one so maybe she's getting her footing again as I don't know when the last time she handled a full time gig before The New 52 started. Last but not least, Birds of Prey has a new lineup now and it looks like something funky is going on with Black Canary. It's been hinted at in the last few issues and now she's done something terrible with her sonic scream causing the power outage to Gotham that they were trying to stop.

The GL books are coming to a head with the Rise of the Third Army storyline and GLC was excellent this week what with Kyle finally mastering the Love aspect as he was put in a trap of sorts meeting Ganthet. I do have some quibbles with the GL books in that I think it's far too interconnected and one big event story is flowing into another. It's as if the people running the GL books don't think they can get away with doing something different and less continuity driven. The Third Army story is going to flow into a story having to do with stopping The First Lantern.

Saucer Country is humming along as this month's issue was a bit of a break from the main narrative but pushes things further for the future. I do think the timing is a little wonky as Arcadia Alvarado went through the Democratic debate the issue before and now all of a sudden we bypass the primaries and the actual election campaign and zip straight to election day in next issue. I realize this isn't a political comic book in that sense but I hate it when they take liberties with time in comic books sometimes. Still, it's a very good comic though pretty dense and sometimes a little confusing for me.

Oh and Justice League....Who knew Aquaman could be such an interesting character. I'm not the biggest Geoff Johns fan out there but he's really rehabilitated Arthur to the point where he's an interesting and worthwhile character on his own. The set up for the eventual splitting of Justice League to two books has begun now too with the reveal of a new batch of heroes to help out in the war against Atlantis.

Overall, very strong week for DC.

Marvel is having a 10% off sale. That's right,10%...you can save up to 40 WHOLE CENTS. 3 days only!

I'll nab Spidey 678 & 9 even though it's not much of a sale. Those should have an intresting new twist now,I saw it was about time travel. If there's a future Spider-Man that comes back that means it's Doc Ock.

Yea I picked up a Winter Soldier run too, bought issues 1-14 from a combo of midtown and milehigh.

Plan on reading Winter Soldier 1-14 and Team 7 0-4 over the weekend. Still need to read Batman/Death of the Family issues 15-16 too.
