    Re: Comic Book Fans....

We expected a high degree of excitement for the Marvel initiative – and had believed ourselves prepared – but unfortunately we became overwhelmed by the immense response. We’re still struggling to keep our systems up.

The result is that you aren’t getting your comics when and where you want.

We don’t like letting you down. Our teams are working around the clock to resolve these issues so that you can have the experience you’ve come to expect.

To that end, we’re pausing the Marvel Comics #1 promotion for the time being. For those of you that want to take advantage of the offer – you will get your comics! Until we are able to reinstate this program in our systems, please click here and fill out this simple form, so you can be informed as soon as there is an update.

Any of you guys listen to comic book podcasts? I've found a few batman ones though I haven't listened to em yet. I also found a couple podcasts that go through the history of X-Men going through every issue which I both listened to last night.

        Pretty neat stuff.

So yeah, any good current comics podcasts or ones that go through the history of a title/character/company?

Closest I get to any of that is Comic Book Men on AMC and we don't even watch that very often.

I like comic book men. It's a funny show and I find the stuff that comes into their store to be very interesting. Their podcast is a good one too.

On the most recent episode one of their longtime customers needed money due to losing his job, medical bills, etc.

At auction (which comic book men organized but took no proceeds of) his collection sold for $27,000 bucks. He had like every imaginable Silver Age comic. A spider man #5, Hulk w/ 1st app of Wolverine, a crap ton of Silver Age Batman/Superman, Daredevil #1-xxxx.

                      Was quite impressive to see.

Read Key of z by Claudio Sanchez. Short story and great artwork. It's about zombies but with a twist.

Nope, but thanks for the recommendation

I'll be reading my Marvels this evening and will post some thoughts tonight or tomorrow.

(See how I tied it all back to the topic of the thread? )

                            Re: Comic Book Fans....

Well I gotta say the 2nd issue of Age of Ultron was a bit better than the first but the pages of art with no text makes this a rather fast read.

Read the newest Wolverine ongoing and it's started out pretty well and written by Paul Cornell so I already have a lot of good will towards it. The story seems pretty simple enough basically a father and his kid aren't what they seem.

                            Uncanny X-Men was decent
                            Spoiler
I gotta say though, from a sartorial aspect Cyclops having a big honking X on his head is rather stupid and calls way too much attention to himself.

X-Men Legacy was actually pretty linear this time around which I was thankful for. Seems Legion has a thing for that blindfolded X-Men (sorry forget her name) and the story was alright.

Fearless Defenders is a pretty awesome book and I gotta say Marvel is doing a far better job than DC with portraying women in comics in a positive and better light. This along with Captain Marvel and the upcoming all female X-Book show that the company is doing right by the female readership while making it fun and exciting for guys who may have outdated views on the whole "women in comics" thing.

Last but not least Secret Avengers has definitely taken on the spy/espionage angle that the Winter Soldier book does. (though it was much better under Brubaker's pen) i'm really intrigued by the whole thing with A.I.M. Island.

I read more but nothing too noteworthy to pass alon....

Love Uncanny X-Men, still expecting more from the Magneto story (double-double cross?), knowing that Emma probably can't dig around and find the truth due to helmet + wonky powers.

Age of Ultron continued to do little to make me care, probably the last physical copy I buy. A bunch of disconnected drama they'll undo with just a thread of it ending up back in the main continuity I imagine. Maybe this is all to set the stage for the cinematic version of Ant Man. Hate how bug-like they've started making Ultron look too.

I picked up Age of Ultron #1 because the foil cover was so pretty haven't read it yet though.

I was thinking about picking up a Ms. Marvel; her character is pretty cool. Anyone been reading that title?
