Just like the mufflers that make the car SOUND faster, or the previous Fast and Furious films, 85% of this import car "culture" is about exteriors/apperances, flashy, but no real substance(or performance).

Instead of pouring money into your import for minimal performance gain and a ton more noise, buy a better car in the first place.

Umm... I'm not even talking about the cars. Yeah, I guess some of these cars had some pretty lucky auditions, and got a contract to play a part in this movie. Sorry that THEY sound so badly.

The way I see it, as long as you know the lines, don't look at the camera, and sound like you're making a conversation (and making the scene work as you see fit), it's no worse than mediocre.

To be quite honest, while you may "laugh" at most of those that you see, there are some serious tuners out there that can put down some pretty amazing numbers on the cars spotlighted... namely the Acura RSX, 350z, Celica, Eclipse...

When you take a stock car, and upgrade parts to get up to about 150 hp over stock... that's quite a feat. That's part of what the culture there is about... not buying a car that comes 400 hp stock. No one cares about that. It's about the tuning and showing off....

Hell while the civic is the most "riced" out car usually out there, I've seen some that will put down numbers that will destroy a stock camaro.

I may not participate in it, but I understand it. When done RIGHT (meaning, no street racing or anything), it's a great hobby.

I wonder if anyone on the board attends HIN...

Hey Pared i'm in the same boat.

I love to race, but i do it on track. But yeah i get really annoyed by wannabes and that give enthusiast bad names. Its a fun culture and its a great HOBBY.

I know how a lot of people think its a waste money, but at the sametime if the person who is doing it right will be saving money being knowledgable about their car and other cars in the future. He will probably know how to fix it or know what exactly what to fix without being ripped off by a mechanic.

Of course there are going to be kids who spend every dime they make in their car, but hey they're irresponsible, if not their car they'll put all their money into some other BS.

Anyway next project that me and bro are gonna do is a 96 supra, and its gonna be a beast!

No, no, no. I understand the serious, tuning enthusiasts out there. A derivative of the "muscle car" culture surrounding domestic cars in the 60s-70s. You KNOW the difference between those and the people I'm talking about, the poseurs. Just like people who dress, talk and act like skateboarders, but carry the board 90% of the time, or yuppies who freight their Harleys to Sturgis, it's a false culture of appearances that dilutes the actual culture.

yeah Silversting, thanks for clearing up. BUt man especially here in Arizona, all the ricers piss me off. Especially when your trying to have lunch outside in a nice day then a jerkoff comes by and revs so that he can compesate for his shortcomings.

It's brutal. Every stop light I get some kid in a civic, with a big wing, some decals and a big muffler revving up next to me.

I Am sorry, you can mod a piece of **** all you want, it's still a piece of ****. Street racing is lame anyway, not to mention most of the wannabe's around here consider, cheap after market rims, decals and a muffler "tuning their car".

At least you guys don't have people revving up their crappy-*** trucks in the middle of the line to get out of my high school at the end of the day.

And by crappy-*** trucks, I literally mean early-90's, paint falling off, rusty trucks...that the people think are cool because they put on some over-sized tires.
