Re: Batman 2 Discussion

I did extra work on this movie last weekend. We shot three nights in a lobby of a downtown office building converted to look like Bruce Wayne's penthouse living room.

I cant really go into everything I saw, but seeing Heath Ledger in action was amazing. Very inspired choice. Anyone that had doubts about his ability to pull off the Joker can sleep easy.

And Tendrils, the new batsuit looks great. I was next to Christian most of the time and the separated armor fittings look great, especially when he is breathing cause they look like individual muscle groups. There is also a reason for the suit design, i'm not goin to spoil the reason why so you guys can find out for yourselves.

I cant wait for this flick, I'm friends with some of the people who work on it so I was placed in the best area of the scenes. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I'll say as much as i can and as much as they'll let me(signed an NDA)

Oh and by the way I almost got to be Batman's stand in because the original was sick. They were going to fit me in the batsuit and I would have been lit for the scene. At the last second his stand in recovered. Oh well.....

I hate those NDA's, I get em from time to time if they get a bit too close to my work and what not, they are usually just a quarter of a block from me. Like Transformers for instance.

Zeke, that scene you were in, did it involve Bruce and Rachel with The Joker "breaking" things up?

There are suppose to be a couple "fake Batmen" in the movie. Not sure how they will be used in the storyline, but that should be interesting to see.

I'm not sure about the mansion (remember, they have to rebuild it), but some part of the Batcave is suppose to be in the movie since they are converting a parking garage into it.

            From the CHICAGO TRIBUNE:
"...filming of the 'The Dark Knight,' starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, and Maggie Gyllenhaal, moves into a Loop parking garage masquerading as The Batcave.
So when will The Batmobile and Batman's new ride, The 'Batpod,' hit the streets of Chicago? We hear not until after Taste of Chicago ends on July 8. Then you can expect more downtown street closings."
and another excerpt from Chicago Tribune; this one contains some SPOILERS so watch out.

SPOILER ALERT: In the scene, Wayne throws a fabulous soiree Saturday night with Gotham's most distinguished guests. The champagne is flowing, and everyone seemed to be having a great time—that is, until the Joker busts in. That fool! The Joker whisks away Gyllenhaal as she is kissing Wayne, according to a set source. Meanwhile, Michael Caine, who plays Wayne's butler, Alfred, struts around the bash in a gray suit and with the most appropriate prop: a cane.

In another scene, Batman and the Joker simulate a fall from the top of a high-rise against a green screen, a set source said.

                *Possible Spoilers*

The scene I was in is the soiree. Michael Caine, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gylenhaal, Heath Ledger, and Christian Bale were in the scene.

In regards to the mansion I believe its being rebuilt during the film. Wayne now lives in a penthouse. We were in a lobby so they green screened all the windows.

As for the the "faux Batmans" i really dont want to go into that because there could be some major spoilers. They weren't in that scene though, but they play a role in showing how psychotic the joker is.

You guys are really gonna love this movie, after seein some of the script and what not it's shaping up nicely.

He said before that we were all going to be impressed with Ledger as the joker, I believe.

I really cant say too much, but its definitely a relief after seeing him in action because I didnt think Heath could pull it off. Maybe I was starstruck from bein on a set with the likes of Michael Caine and watching these actors do there thing in realtime, but seeing him take after take and playing the scene different everytime all while maintaining a high level of acting I was truly impressed.

BTW Heath is a really funny guy on set and cool as well, and so is Michael Caine(which I didnt expect). Christian Bale was pretty distant and quiet(probably gettin into character) and Aaron Eckhart seemed really cool. Maggie Gylenhaal seemed like an uptight b***h though.

One more thing, seeing Michael Caine act as a waiter carrying a tray for over 2 hours during one scene is definitely a sight to see. One of the greatest actors ever and a man who was knighted by the queen of England carrying a tray and relegated to butler duty in a film is just a bit surreal and funny.

Good to hear these sort of things. I always thought of Christian Bale as a quiet guy that likes to keep to himself

SINGAPORE : He is well-known in the local arts scene, having began his 20-year career in theatre, television and film as a teen actor.

Now Singapore actor Ng Chin Han has snagged a role in the next Batman movie “The Dark Knight” which is set to hit cinemas in July next year.

Working with big names like Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Heath Ledger and Gary Oldman, Chin Han admits that he does feel a little pressure but the actors are very professional. “That’s the great part about working with these guys. And they obviously come with a great body of work and that’s very exciting for me.”

The audition process was long and grueling, and took about six to eight weeks before everything was set and inked. And it being a Hollywood blockbuster, everything was top secret.

“The scripts that they let you read for the auditions are not the scripts for the exact film movie because everything’s so top secret. You get scripts that are printed on special paper that cannot be photocopied, there are invisible watermarks, all kinds of things. You feel like a spy in a James Bond movie when you are looking at these scripts.”

Even though he’s landed a role in a Hollywood blockbuster, Chin Han’s not turning his back on theatre.

“Theatre is wonderfully exciting, it’s very organic. You have an audience… It might sound like a cliché but there’s nothing like seeing the smiles on the face of an audience at the end of the play or musical. I think that’s very fulfilling.” - CNA

Production is going to switch from night filming to day filming starting tomorrow morning. They are suppose to film some type of evacuation/barge scene tomorrow with a ton of extras.
