Yeah he does a good Joker, I guess Jack was better to me. Maybe because I was teenager when that Batman came out. I still like that Joker.

I don't see what the fascination with Ledger as the Joker is. Looks to be a good movie but everyone screaming "OMG HE KILLS NICHOLSON!!11!!!" just doesn't make any sense to me.

I can easily see it. Mostly because Tim Burton's representation of The Joker was off-based in the first place. You can't really fault that on Jack per se, but Ledger is killing it. To each their own.

But every single representation of Joker has been similar to JN's.... the comics, shows.... all cheesy, humorous and creepy. Almost campy.

I understand the movie is a dark take on the Batman motif.... is that why it's so highly regarded. Not knocking it... just don't see the fascination.

Jack Nicholson's Joker is easily one of the greatest movie villains of all time.

Anyone who says otherwise is unworthy of watching such evil goodness.

yeah I don't get it either. This is a Joker that I haven't really seen before, but I haven't seen much more than just short clips or pics. JN was much more the traditional characterization IMO. I think Ledger's Joker is going to show the more ruthless part of the Joker but JN hit the insane clown part pretty good. I'm sure this one will be good, and this style of Joker fits in with the new franchise, but Ledger doesn't replace what I think the Joker is like in my mind (JN doesn't fully do that either IMO, but he's close).

I understand the movie is a dark take on the Batman motif.... is that why it's so highly regarded. Not knocking it... just don't see the fascination.

This current take on the Batman world is the graphic novel take which is much darker than the cartoons and JN's version of the Joker.

No one is denying Nicholson was a great Joker, but Ledger is absolutely nailing down the dark, psychotic Joker that you see in graphic novels like The Killing Joke or the Long Halloween.

And I know personally, I like the dark, psychotic version of the Joker much more than the "Let's make everyone smile with laughing gas" clown version of the Joker, which is why I'd take what I've seen of Ledger as the Joker over JN's version of it.

Now, that is not to say JN did a bad job. He was a fantastic Joker and nailed the insane clown version, like aukevin said. I just think Ledger's version is going to be much better, because it really hits the deeper roots of the criminal Joker, focusing more on his insanity and ruthlessness than his clown costume.

Sure, but don't you think Jack could have done that Joker too. He can play crazy real good.
I think Heath is good and will be great at the role, but I think Jack was the better Joker.
