And if there was no internet, TV, DVDs/VHS, or competition in theaters, TDK probably would have made a billion by now.
Throw in a like, 15 year run in theaters, and obviously GWTW will be #1 in terms of ticket sales and inflation.
Just saying.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
I think it was certainly fantastic. The first time I saw it, I was pondering how they could possibly start the most anticipated movie...ever. I was not disappointed, though I enjoyed the opening a lot more the second time.Comment

The part that really *gets* me with the opening sequence is the part where you see the back of Heath Ledger and he's just kind of standing there on the corner of the street, halfway slumped over with the mask hanging from his right hand in combination with the score (which reminds me of TCM) and its like we're being introduced to the greatest horror villain ever.

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
Let me get some takes on this. My wife and I had to rewatch Batman Begins after watching TDK. We watched it and then the next morning my wife was like, I think they showed the Joker. It took her overnight to realize the possibility.
The scene is when BW goes to see Falcone. Toward the end of the scene, when the goons have roughed BW up a little, it shows a man that was reference earlier by Falcone. He has the face (not Ledger) of the Joker. I think he was suppose to be a lawyer, but he gave a look of more than an innocent bystander.
Could that have been the Joker? We keep going back and forth on it, and even had to record the movie a second time to watch it.
Nothing important, just thought it interesting.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
This week started with Angelina Jolie rumors...Now apparently Warner Bros has contacted Johnny Depp to play the Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman to play the Penguin.

Ugh. Villian overkill? This doesn't seem like something Nolan would want. Especially when he said they weren't going to recreate the previous 4 movies villans, especially not Penguin.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
I could see Johnny Depp being a very good riddler. I'd try to take the approach that DC comics has taken with the character (granted I haven't read an issue in over a year) of having the Riddler seeming to be like a very eccentric private detective and being legit. I'd then have Riddler working the underground crime scene and causing havoc that way. In many ways it'd be the opposite of the BW/BM dynamic.
I think that'd be something that Nolan would do.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
I went to see it one more time. I still feel the same way. It's very good but not great. The action scenes were ok. Still think the Spiderman 2 scene where he tries to stop the train and fight Dock Ock is the best action scene in a comic book movie of all time.
The thing I missed was Bruce Wayne. I wanted to see more of how he handled his loneliness. I mean yeah he has Alfred but he is twice his age.
I would like to see how he handles it mentally. I understand they wanted to focus on the villians, but the most important factor in most hero comic book movies is the mind state of the heroin.
What forces him to do what he has to do. The motivation that keeps him going. This version of Batman was too automatic unlike in Begins. More like the Batman from the animated series where he seems to have no emotion save for a few episodes where they touch on it.
What's an extra 30 minutes to show this a bit more. I was not tired watching the whole thing at all. They made it a little too easy to know who were the crooked cops in the beginning but other than that I thought it was well done.Comment

Thank god this movie didn't go down this sugested route! I didn't go see this movie to see Fried Green Tomatoes or the Sister hood of the traveling Batman Pants. Chick flick plot lines do not belong in this movie... Hold me Alfred, I'm lonley.. LOL<FORM action=/movies> </FORM>
