Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
Really? Not saying your wrong, but how do you know this for sure?
My thoughts on that scene:
SpoilerI was left under the impression that Batman went to save Harvey. I didn't catch anything about how the joker switched locations. I thought Batman was displaying how selfless he was by going after Harvey and not the girl he loved because in Gotham, Harvey meant more to everyone than Rachel. Harvey stood up against the baddies and was going after them hard, pushing for them to get locked up. He was the hero of the city and people saw him as inspiration and hope.
So I thought that was why Batman went after Harvey. So that Gotham didn't lose it's hero.Mario Kart Wii: 1203 9969 5095

SpoilerWhen Batman leaves the room, Gordon goes: "Who are you going after?" and Batman screams "Rachel!" Gordon then goes: "We'll get Dent!" and tells his men to go to 250-52nd street.

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
SpoilerI can see your point and how it would have worked, but the plot needed something to make Harvey snap. Soon after Batman got who was being held where out of the Joker, Batman actually said he was going to get Rachel. Then when both Rachel and Harvey are shown talking to each other, Harvey tells her that they'll save her first.
I think that was part of the reason why Harvey either tried to get free by tipping his chair over, or he was trying to actually drink the oil from one of those barrels (suicide). The oil drinking just went through my mind when his face was so close to that oil leak, but I think it may just have been an accident - the tipping the barrel over.
But if that is the case that makes sense as well seeing as howSpoilerJoker saw how both men loved that girl. He wanted to "corrupt" both men, bring the worse out of Gotham's heroes. And what better way to drive them over the edge than killing of the girl he knew both men loved.
So that makes sense too.
I'm definitely going to have to go see it again.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
The second time he told the story I was the only one who let out a huge laugh. I don't know if anyone else in the theater got it at the time. But I think people were just so amazed by the performance.
The third time, people started laughing in the theater."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
People have listed a bunch of cool names for villians in the next film, which got me thinking. Is there any possible way that the next film can't be a let down? You have one of those all-time classic films that kills the reviews, racks in millions, and has oscar worthy performances with one of the greatest battles between hero and villian.
What I always thought was so great about The Joker compared to the other Rogues was that he was a combination of Riddler's humor and Two-Face's evil.
Just seems like an impossible act to follow.
I know that most people watched Dark Knight because of the Joker. It's the reason I kept telling people that this movie will shatter records. The Joker is bigger than Batman. He is the most popular villain in comics. And everyone likes the villain.
But, I think people saw that the Dark Knight was more than just Joker. I mean, Joker was the film. He left you in awe. However, there was a lot more going on and I think this film rejuvenated people's interest in Batman. That will help make the third movie make a lot of money.
Now, the only way I think it'll shatter it's own record is if it has another popular villain like Riddler or Penguin. If Nolan goes for a lesser name then it'll make a boat load of cash but I don't think it'll break Dark Knight's numbers."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied.

Seems kinda odd no one has mentioned this scene yet..
SpoilerThe 'obstruction' burning fire truck which seems very Joker mannered hence the name 'fire' truck scene brought chills down my spine especially when the guy sitting shotgun to the disguised Gordon was practically thinking 'we're about to get ****ed.'Originally posted by Altimus GTRBums.

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
I saw it today and I must have had lofty expectations from all the buzz but I was underwhelmed and I actually think Begins is the superior film and this is coming from a huge Nolan fan.
The movie focused way too much on Dent and the climax was anything but climatic, at least the last 15 minutes was slow beyond belief. They didn't focus nearly enough on the Bruce Wayne\Batman character and it felt more like a Harvey Dent film rather than a Batman film. That death that happened should of affected batman alot more than how it was played out.
I know Nolan couldn't of forecast Ledger's death but the final scenes with the Joker were anti-climatic to say the least and should have been more fleshed out regardless of whether Nolan intended to have the Joker in the next film or not. The ending scenes with Dent just dragged on forever and at that point in the movie I just wanted it to end and that never happens to me with a movie I truly enjoy. I though there was enough action but it just wasn't done right. Nolan still needs practice as he has that habit of filming action scenes that are hard to watch because it's jumping all over the place and it's worse when most of the action is at night like this film. He did this in Begins often but in TDK almost every action scene was haphazardly shot with no flow.
IMO the 1st half was excellent but the 2nd half brought it down to a good but not great movie. To me it still ranks behind X-men 2, Spiderman 2 and Begins.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion **CONTAINS SPOILERS**
Xmen 2 was a good movie. As a true Xmen fan I had a lot of issues with it but it was good. Spiderman 2 though? Really? I don't know if you're more a movie fan than a fan of these series but Xmen 2 went too far from the real story and Spiderman 2 was 100 times worse. Decent movie but far from great, and no superhero movie should have the masked hero spend so much time unmasked in front of so many people. That alone brings it down a notch for me.Comment
