I don't want the Joker to look clownish or cartoonish ala Tim Burton's Joker. Sure, thats a side of the Joker that should be displayed in one way, but that look would definitely clash with what Nolan is basing this franchise on. I want the Joker's actions and reasonings to be a dark, sadistic clown/cartoon-humor, but not his face.

Sniggity, do you know if there will be any type of background on the Joker in the movie?

EDIT: Update on BOF regarding what Jett posted earlier.
As of now, I'll I've been hearing is they're leaving the Joker's origin alone. At least for TDK, possibly in the third they find out why the Joker is the way he is.

I don't see how so many of you are eager for not only an unfaithful take but frankly a flat out bad one with the joker wearing scraps and having a gray scarred face. You say the Joker is supposed to be scary, well yeah but like another poster pointed out, he's scary after you see the kind of crazy MF he is. Whether you're entertained or sickened by that is on the viewer. If anything his clownish appearance was supposed to be disarming, not something where people gasp and children cry. This and his purple suit are trademarks of the character.

You say "He did the exact opposite with Begins and now he's doing it again by doing the exact opposite with TDK." I disagree, i'd say he's doing the same exact thing Tim Burton did. Unsatisfied with the Penguin character, Burton created a version of his own, complete with flippers or whatever instead of hands and with a constant green slime coming out of his mouth. How is this any different from Nolan taking the Joker and deforming his face and wardrobe?

Maybe instead of worrying about and comparing this to Nicholson's portrayal you should be looking at the source material. Going from that if the character's look is anything similar to these descriptions then its pretty much an outright bastardization of the character. Like i said, excitement waning. We'll see when pictures/teaser trailer debut.
I, nor anyone else is here to convince you. Some of us have been following the news since Batman Begins was announced. We might be a little more in the know than yourself, but I'll just let you find out on your own. Expect a teaser later this summer.

And everything I've heard/read about the Joker's adaptation in this movie is only making me want to see it more and more.

I don't really get why people wouldn't want a different take on the character than the cartoon and past appearences. They're going with a darker version of the character in both looks and mental state/actions. I, personally, love the idea - but different strokes, right?

I've been following BOF from since before Begins was announced, through all the casting rumors, the leaked script, and so-on and so forth. I didn't imply I needed convincing, I'm simply stating my opinion, im not sure what your post added to that.

Like I said, i'm curious as to how you can be so gung ho about what would be such an unfaithful representation. You take away the white face & the purple suit and replace it with a bunch of scars and rags, you might as well not call the guy the Joker IMO. This isn't the Begins villains where there is little to no preconceived notion of the character. Having an explanation for all these things that occur is cute but theres a line and i'd have to say butchering the Joker would be crossing it.

Not to keep writing paragraphs, but a different take? Sure, I'd love it. But that doesnt mean taking away the essence of the character. Cesar Romero was campy, Jack Nicholson was somewhere in between. Plenty of room for a dark Joker.

Sounds like your Batman/Joker movie was already made then. Doesn't seem like Nolan's Batman movies are for you. Shame, especially for someone who claims to be somewhat of a die-hard. Good luck to ya.

I like this look. I think its a nice balance between the classic and the realistic image that was posted earlier.

That's Joker from Batman: Dead End. Personally, I thought the actor was trying to be Mark Hamill. I didn't hate it, but I don't think that fits Nolan's vision imo.

I'm just talking about the look, not the way he was portrayed.

I know. I was implying that look to me wouldn't work for the TDK, it looks too over the top. But that's just me.

                          * The Joker will have gray skin with lot's of scarring.

                          * The Joker's costume will be raggedy (This may confirm the info BOF got a long while ago saying that his costume will look as if it was something he put together one piece at a time).

                          * He's going to look damn scary, not clownish.

With the new info today about Joker, this would be something I would like to see. We've already seen the "cartoony clown in purple" twice in live action, so this would be a welcomed look, especially for Nolan's darker films.

I would definitely not go see the movie if The Joker looked like that.

                              Maybe you prefer this?

If he looked anything like that (which he won't), this movie is already dead in the water.

I'm not saying I'm right and you guys are wrong by any means, I'm simply going on all the info and specualtion from the directors/actors/press that has been released about this movie.
