    Re: The Break Up

Honestly, I don't know what my true feelings on this movie are.

I love Vince, obviously, just check the avatar. I also think Aniston is perfect in this type of role, I really can't think of anyone else I see playing Brooke. And there were some truly golden moments in the movie -- the dinner scene for one, the scene with Gary and Johnny after the climax, the fight scene between Gary and Richard.

Now, all that said... The movie hit a little too close to home for comfort. Honestly, almost every argument in the movie me and my fiance have had over the course of our relationship. It was weird to the point of just being downright spooky. Everything was just a little too real. When we left the theater on Sunday, there was just this huge awkward silence between the two of us for probably fifteen minutes before either of us spoke a word about the movie. Generally, whenever we go see a movie, we'll start talking about it when we walk out and not stop for the length of the carride home. Not the case here, I think we've spent probably five minutes since seeing it Sunday actually talking about the movie.

So, my overall thoughts? It was good, but the realism was a total mindjob

Vince Vaughn is hilarious, only reason I wanted to see it (and 2 girls asked me to go ). It had some really great lines in it, "Band of Brothers...watch it sometime", and overall I thought the story was really good.

Vince Vaughn is on a box office roll. You cast him as the main lead or co-headliner in a comedy, and it will make 100+mil.

It was nice to see Vaughn and Favreau together again. The acting was top notch by the whole cast. The argument scenes by Vaughn and Aniston were well done. I'm sure many viewers have been in their positions before.

I cracked up when Vaughn trash talked that little kid while playing Madden.

Some of the lines that really cracked me up were:

Brooke: My sister has been through a lot...
            Gary: ...of dick?

Gary: Is that how you want to play it, Brooke? Because I can play it like that. I'll play it like Lionel Richie, 'All Night Long', lady.

Johnny O: I'm sweatin' like a Tijuana whore!

I liked how the ending was different than what you would expect.

But there's something missing in the film that would take it up a notch. I can't point out what it is at the moment. Perhaps Aniston's character isn't sympathetic enough. I found her to be snobby.
