Crete a partition on your drive and install the OS. This way you won't get stuck with the Beta on your computer.

It's still a pre-release so my understanding is that any damage that occurs, is on the user. If it has a serious security hole or bug, it's the user's problem and it likely won't be patched until release versions. I'd load it onto a test machine, but not on any of my main home systems.

Oh, I completely understand I'm taking a risk putting it on my home system, but I'm dual booting on two 250 GB HD's here, with Media Center as my main one and Vista Ultimate on the other. So if worse comes to worst I can always just delete the Vista OS info out the startup ini and reformat the second hard drive.

I'm running without any problems at all... *knock on wood* Vista recognized everything on my system aside from my TV in/out card, but I easily just grabbed those drivers from my current setup. It's running smooth, but like I said, there isn't much you can do as a personal home user here that can't be done with XP. I personally don't like the UAC but I can see how it might help Joe Blow when running their PC. All it does it give you an extra step when changes are being made to your PC. I can see people turning it of anyway, as it can get a bit annoying.

The truth,

You need a program that will partition your current drive, as you can't really do it using the OS DVD. You can, however, install the OS onto a seperate HD if you have two in your PC. That's the smartest way to do it. Don't take the chance of ruining your home system unless you have the means to ghost an image of it.
