Re: Superman Returns now PG13?
Brian Singer, who is an excellent film maker, is taking a slight risk with this movie. He's said in interviews that this movie is an homage to the 1978 Richard Donner film, and you can tell from the previews that it is very similar stylistically. Also Brandon Routh has said that the film is a love story first and foremost. Will this film appeal to the the 25 and under set?
Singer made the right call with making the X-men films about the characters first and powers second, lets see if that works with Supes.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

I'm going to see it in IMAX at some point next week. Hopefully it's good. On the plus side, can't be as bad as Superman 3 or 4.Comment

Got my tickets for Wednesday night today, CAN'T wait. Amidst all of my INSANELY high anticipation, the movie is also getting fantastic reviews at Rottentomatoes.com: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/superman_returns/
Among the quotes:
"Superman Returns is a thundering epic of Spielbergian proportions: colossal action, grandiose effects and a breathtaking story.", and "The best Hollywood movies always knew how to sneak a beguiling subtext into a crowd-pleasing story. Superman Returns is in that grand tradition. That's why it's beyond Super. It's superb."

Yeah, that quote is from respected Time Magazine reviewer David Ansen, who was obviously stirred by the film. The reviews are quite positive, even the less enthusiastic one cite several good things about the movie. My concern, after reading many reviews-the Lex Luthor character is less than impressive, and Brandon Routh is not a great actor.Originally posted by Kearnzo

Another pretty positive review for this movie (and this guy is a stickler for comic book movies):

Re: Superman Returns now PG13?
I saw an employee showing of it last night (Monday). First of all, the length (2 hrs 40 mins or so) was really surprising. However, it didn't feel like it had been that long when I left the theater, but it had been. Second, the movie was well done. A lot of the summer movies this summer have disappointed me, coming up short of the hype. This movie, I really didn't want to see all that badly; but I'm definitely glad I got to see it. Routh is almost perfect for the role as both Kent and Superman. There is a lot of humorous dialogue in the movie, which surprised me to an extent. Luther is well-played by Spacey, and is very convincing in his maniacal genious personality. I think it was well done for both fans of comics and fans of the movies. And as far as the love story, I didn't think it was too much the focus. Yes Superman wanted Lois when he returns, but it didn't affect my feelings on the movie when he was disappointed/sad or whatever.Comment

Re: Superman Returns now PG13?
Just got back from the movie. Overall it works. It kind of follows the tried and true Superman movie of putting you, the viewer, in a state of suspense waiting for Superman to come and save the day. The movie didn't need to be as long as it was, the last half hour really drags, but it wasn't unbareable. I found the first half of the movie to be a little corny (lots of jokes) and it made me feel like I was watching a kid's movie at times. The special effects were done very well and there was plenty of action. The last half hour or so of the film might be a little tough on the kids but nothing too bad. The movie probably could have easily received a PG rating.
Overall, it's a Superman movie. It is better than any of the other sequels and it proves to be a more accessible movie for kids than Batman Begins. I've already stated I'm not a Superman fan but I wasn't bored during the movie and it held my interest for the most part. It isn't a movie I'd really want to see again though. It's a good summer flick, bring your kids, I give it a B.Comment

Re: Superman Returns now PG13?
I thought it was freakin awesome gotta see it type movie Its the best movie of the summer so far. One of the main reasons i enjoyed it so much was that i saw it in IMAX 3d and if you have that in your town its worth the extra bucks to see it. (not all of it is in 3d but a good few scenes that were amazing look great 3d and the sound rocks you off your seat)
It belongs in the top echelon of super hero movies with Spiderman 1/2 and Batman Begins. I liked it even more than X-Men 1 and i'm an x-men fan.
Kevin Spacey was great as Lex and Kate Bosworth did well as Lois, but honestly i kept seeing Rachel McAdams doing that role more than Kate. Brandon Routh did ok as Clark/Superman not nearly as good as how Toby McGuire made Pete Parker but still did a good job.
Singer as someone said earlier does a good job character building and has an awesome franchise ahead of him with Superman.Comment

How do they indicate that you put the 3d glasses on? Please, no spoilers, just a general idea on how they tell you to put the 3d glasses on.Originally posted by RockinDaMikeI thought it was freakin awesome gotta see it type movie Its the best movie of the summer so far.
