    Re: iPod or PSP

also it appears that even though both are 30 gigs, the ipod can hold more files because the itunes format is actually smaller than WMA's, Mps's, avi's etc.
I think that's the biggest reason I'm leaning towards the iPod. When things are in iPod format the filesize is cut in half and with all the stuff I have that's so needed.

lol, i thought I had a lot of music until I got my ipod. sadly I only have almost 600 songs still with about 26 gigs to go. I know now that 60GB would've been overkill.

Yup - it's overkill for me, but it's nice to know I won't have to delete stuff lol. I do a lot of driving so the ipod makes sense for me as it's small and easy to take around.

Itunes is pretty cool too and while I love my music, I love my daily dose of ESPN podcasts and podcasts in general

doesnt quality factor into this at all?

I have one or two episodes that are AVI DIVX and are around 340x480 ratio size with an amazing kbps.. When transfering over to ipod mp4 format, is there any quality lose and does the size go down? Also, what about a direct transfer on the Zen system of the 220mb avi divx file... Does the file get transfered on whole, and even though the file is two times the resolution, it seems like it would be playing at 50% the size and youd be essentially wasting disc space

Not from what I've seen. The reason I know much about the iPod video is because my best friend got one for X-Mas and he isn't very CPU knowledgeable so I had to research to find the right programs and such for him. Well, I tested on his and the picture quality is pretty damn awesome. Probably not as good as the Zen from what I'm hearing but awesome nonetheless. I have two converters. One I do for files (like TV shows) and one I do just for DVDs. Not a problem with either so it's not a deal to me.

              Example:

I have season three of Dawson's Creek ready to be put on to it at 3.3 GB and in regular format it's 6.86 GB. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is 495 MB converted from a DVD and Kill Bill Vol. 2 is 599 MB. I just have so much crap such as TV shows (I'm slowly becoming a TV junkie) that converting the files is better for me because it saves me tons of space. Instead of 24: Day 5 being 6+ gigs it's one 3 or so.

It would take about half a day to convert all my ROH and IWA MS to fill up a 60 gig.

Yeah...bought it the day after the game, but just got a video iPod Sunday, so finally got to watch it on the small screen and it looks nice.

Now I'm contemplating between the final 2 episodes of 24 seaosn 5, or a few episodes of the Office.
