Hesh is really the only one I agree with.

I have to admit, after watching the last two shows (the first of the two by accident) it's got me hooked, mostly by the character of Hearst (Gerald McRaney). This guy is really demented and a bad a$$ to boot.

Wonder who will win between Dority and the Captain? We will find out soon. Reminds me of The Hulk VS The Thing.

Wow is right. That had to have been the most brutal scene in the show so far. I loved the cuts to Al during the fight when he lowered his head thinking Dan lost, then the slight nod after Dan finished off the Captain.

There was also the cut to Al when Dan avoided being drowned. Al's head went up somewhat impassionately, realizing that there was still hope. Great scene, great episode. Any negative comments I've made about Deadwood I take back-this season has been great-maybe I should have watched last season.

This might be old news, but I read an interview today with Ian McShane and it looks like Deadwood is cancelled after this season but they'll be doing two, 2 hour movies to wrap things up.

As many of us know the characters in Deadwood are real historical figures. How much will/have they deviated from actual history? For example sherrif Bullock never killed anyone in keeping reasonable order in the town and died of cancer at 70. Any chance he gets gunned down or guns down the two thugs shown in the previews? If my hunch is right the two men are Wyatt Earp and his brother. In actuality Bullock told Earp to leave (he was apparently interested in the deadwood sherrif's job) and he did. On another note, the real life Swearengen made a fortune, but ended up a penniless drunk, killed while trying to catch a ride on a train.

I know they have taken quite a few liberties with following the actual history. For example, I think the Bella Union was actually a theatre and not owned by Cy Tolliver. I'm sure there have been countless examples but I doubt they would do anything as serious as killing off main characters when it didn't actually happen.

I hope they cover the transition of Al from what he is now into dying as a penniless drunk.
