Anyone have a prefernce when it comes to Gilmour or Waters ??? I like them both. Waters was the writing genious though. But they were the best when they were both in the group.

I read Dark Side Of The Moon sales 8,000 copier per week still !
      "Hey You" is both.

It's hard to chose which one I like best but I guess I will go with Gilmour. Waters is an amazing lyricist but sometimes his voice comes of too nasaly to me.

I think that "Wish You Were Here" and "Dark Side Of The Moon" were by far the best albums with "The Wall" and "Animals" a distant third and fourth. To me "WYWH" and "DSOTM" are the best examples of the entire band coming together to make a complete album. And in the case of "WYWH" a little help from Roy Harper.

Do you need to be on some type of drug to watch and understand "The Wall?"

I prefer Waters writing but as for singing I think they're both good. I think Gilmour has a better voice than Waters but I also think Waters voice sounds more of a unique voice. Personally I think The Wall is the greatest CD put out by the band but I also realize that the best band made (as in all contributing) was Dark Side of the Moon. WYWH would be 3rd place for me and Animals right behind it.

If any of you guys who are Floyd fans and like The Wall haven't done so yet, you should definitely pick up Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking by Waters as it's a great CD and very similiar to how the Wall is lyrically written. Also, Amused to Death is great too (but not like the Wall). I don't really care as much for Radio Kaos but it's not bad.

Also, I think one of the best CD's for Waters, even though it's under the Floyd name, is The Final Cut. This is Waters at his most brilliant since the Wall but the rest of the band is just there as backup to him, fitting that it was their last CD as you can really tell (not to mention the name of the CD). I still listen to it quite frequently.

If anyone is up in Ohio or the midwestern states keep your eyes out for a Floyd Tribute Band called "Wish you were here" as I saw them in the flats once and it's the closest you'll ever come short of the real thing, the two guys singing in the band sound exactly like Waters & Gilmour (although none of them look anything like the band though). Here is their website:

America's "Sight and Sound of Pink Floyd" since 1995. Originally debuting as Harvest Pink Floyd Revue in 1987, WISH YOU WERE HERE is America's FIRST & LONGEST-RUNNING (38 years), largest and most...

I hated that album. I know it's supposed to be one of the best psychedelic albums of all time but I just couldn't stand it.

yes...some may not agree but I prefer Waters ,been following them since i was 16-17...still to this day will have songs from "hitchhiking", Radio Waves, and "Amused to Death" on the ipod...Final Cut is one of my favorite Floyd albums along with Animals (only because "dark Side" has been played out too much in my lifetime.Always thought Waters was the prime reason and direction of Floyd as much as I enjoy David and the rest of the band...it's Waters songwriting and aura that drew me to them. For me,as soon as he split the band up...Pink Floyd was gone.

Yeah it's funny, I used to be the resident Waters freak in PF forums. I remember jokingly calling the first Waters-less "Floyd" CD "A monetary lapse of treason". Always got all the Gilmour fans up in arms. Since then i've mellowed and appreciate Gilmours contributions alot more but I'm still a Waters guy. I don't think the band without Waters is really Pink Floyd but they certainly have some great music. Just like when Ace Frehley left Kiss they weren't Kiss anymore to me, nor is it Floyd unless it's Waters, Gilmour, Wright and Mason.

Anyone heard how Syd Barrett is doing? Last I heard he was pretty overweight and not in good health.

Are you sure that he is dead? I don't think he is.

Edit: I checked Wikipedia and nope, he's not dead.
