Re: Pink Floyd Fans................
The Movie is great but unfortunatly..no "live" footage of the band with Waters unless you get bootlegs...even then its real bad. Waters's own dvd is real good if you like his solo stuff!! Would have liked to have had a dvd of the old shows but no dice. Times change..I saw them at Madison Square garden in 77...great show ..Whole Animals album...intermission...then whole wish u were here album..had to go the next night..got tkts from a scalper for 30 bucks!! Now...it would be like 300!!! That's why i go to very few shows anymore. Going tomorrow night to see Rick Wakeman...then friday night for Keith Emerson....man, im old!!!!Comment

Re: Pink Floyd Fans................
Big PF fan. I have every album. Without Waters they lost a lot of their vocal purity. Waters, it seems was the socially consciuous/political advocate. His unique voice made PF PF. There is not much of a drop off from Waters to Gilmore vocally, just the messages aren't as pinpointed without Waters. By the way who sings "Nobody home" on the Wall album?
Also, for the guy that said he didn't understand the wall. It is about feeling socially irrelevant and being mentally and or emotionally controlled . Each controlling factor in the singers life becomes a brick in his wall of disenchantment. His mother, teachers, bad relationships etc...He exists behind a wall that makes his emotions cold. At the end he escapes by having a trial with the part of his mind that keeps him trapped behind the wall, that dark part condemns him for wanting to be human or for wanting human emotions so as a punishment they/it tear down his wall and release him to humanity.Comment

Re: Pink Floyd Fans................
Waters sings Nobody Home unless you're saying on that CD you think it's someone else? But normally it's Waters and I'm pretty sure on the CD it is too. You are right about Waters, although not as good of a quality of voice as Gilmour, his voice is unique in sound and he brought real emotion and thought to the band, and it had real depth.Originally posted by NovaStarBig PF fan. Gilmour just is not as deep as Waters even when he tries and he really can't "connect" to alot of the fans in the same manner. Although that dude still can shred a guitar. In fact I think Gilmour channels his connection and emotions through his guitar but is unable to do so as well through his lyrics, whereas Waters was the opposite. I'd put Waters up there as the greatest lyricist ever.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Pink Floyd Fans................
I agree you 100%. Gilmore expressed more through his guitar, Waters with his perceptions of life and voice, he sang with passion and you could hear it. Shine on you crazy diamond part 2...man, that is one of my favorite guitar riffs ever (When Gilmore climbs the scale...man!! it is just as passionate as Waters singing, he makes you feel him). I too agree that Waters lyrics make him one of the best ever. This is why I place PF as the best band ever they, had the music and the lyrics and true passion concerning socially relevant things, when Waters was with them.Originally posted by ODoggWaters sings Nobody Home unless you're saying on that CD you think it's someone else? Re: Pink Floyd Fans................
I'm not nearly the rock buff that I am w. hip-hop, but Pink Floyd is definitely one of the more underrated bands, IMO, of all-time. I know they have their hardcore fans etc especially from earlier generations, but it takes a while to get into them and I feel that alot of people in younger generations shy away from them because of that.
They're pretty deep though, a pleasure to listen to once you "get" them."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

Re: Pink Floyd Fans................
Exactly, you have to get them. I am a hip hop guy as well, but one day I was listening to a classic rock Station in NY, and I heard this record with this lady screaming and wailing to this slow funky beat, I was like "what the hell is that, it turns out it was pink floyd's gig in the sky (i think, the name escapes me). Anyway, I went a bought dark side of the moon, and from there I have been a fan every since. I got them.Originally posted by ehhI'm not nearly the rock buff that I am w. hip-hop, but Pink Floyd is definitely one of the more underrated bands, IMO, of all-time. Re: Pink Floyd Fans................
Lots of good reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd
Scroll down to the bottom for pages of each memeber and discoraphy etc.
If you type in "wish you were here" in the search bar and go to the song page it has a funny story about when they were recording it how Syd Barrett just showed up in the studio, fat, bald and with his eye brows shaved.

Re: Pink Floyd Fans................
usually when people mention rock legends they say the stones, beatles, led zeppelin, etc and usually no mention of the floyd. at least that's what i would say to the fact they don't seem to be as respected as alot of these other bands of olden year are.Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsHow are they underrated?Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20
