Goodness. On the real though, I don't think Pac was the "deepest" rapper I ever heard, but he's one of the most versatile I've ever listened too. He was mainstream and didn't sellout his character by doing love ballads. He kept it straight from what he knew. He said things that weren't deep but things that made you think. Hard to describe. Didn't say that he was the greatest either did he? Usually it's the media and fanboys that put that mark on the different artists.

Fixed. You could say the whole 1st verse of that song has a great message.

If he was still alive we would probably making fun of him for being on some celeb reality show.

I wish he was still alive because that would mean less "puffy" being shoved down everyones throat.

Never really felt Pac - in life or death. However, I do think he had a uniquely captivating combination of voice and delivery that added immensely to his overall appeal. I'm in South Los Angeles where of course many "gangstahs" swear by his music. I think, for them, his songs made them deeply contemplate alot of things they've dealt with personally thus why you'd hear them claim his music was deep and/or thought provoking. He laso has so many songs that, even if you aren't a thug, you'll likely stumble upon a cut or two that you could relate to.

Re: What's The 'Deepest' Thing 'Pac ever said???

While I doubt we'd be making fun of Pac on some TV show, he wouldn't be close to as popular if he hadn't died and it wasn't a prereq to say you love Pac. But the only people who really benefitted by an early death popularity wise that I can think of are Cobain and Pac.

Eventually gangsta rap was going to fade out towards the Cash Money bling bling of 1999/2000. The last few Pac albums were about as far from deep as it gets, spending a lot of time dissing the East coast and bringing up how much of a gangsta he was, despite his quite ungangsta past. I don't really like him that much, and in the end was not even the best on his own songs once he started collabing with every artist in the west on every song (the 350 members of the Outlawz specifically). Then again to his credit (kind of), he has had very good post death management of his music, unlike BIG and Big L.

I liked Pac, I liked his versatility, I thought some of his lyrics were quite thought provoking. I am not going to try to say he was Top 10 or Top 5, despite what many people around here, who think they know a lot more about music than they do, would have you believe, I think those kinds of lists are completely unique to every individual.

I just always thought that Pac was THE rapper that had the potential to contribute more than just music and movies. Sadly, he didn't live long enough to reach that potential.

Well, one of his favorite hooks of mine came on the Makaveli album, "Against All Odds". It was a diss record but still one of my favorites.

"Against all odds. I'm hoping my true muthaf****** know, this be the realest **** I ever wrote! Up in the studio gettin blowed, to the truest **** I ever spoke!"

Not really "deep" but I like it.

Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it learned to walk with out having feet
Funny it seems, but keeping it's dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared
