Thats an interesting take. Using that theory, you wouldnt see any movie based on real life events that ends in tragedy. That takesm out a hell of a lot of war movies, dramas etc.

I can understand if your reason is because its too soon but everything I've read says that Stone did right by the victims and their families. There is no political spin to this film....its just about two firefighters who saved lives in the towers.

I agree with almost everything you said until "There is no political spin to this film". This is directed by Oliver Stone. He puts political spin on everything.

I'll have to see it ("no political spin"), to believe it.

I had the same concerns as you when I heard Stone was involved, but I've actually heard the same thing Aaron posted above - that Stone played this one straight, without any political slant, as a survival story about the last two officers out of the towers. I'm really hoping that's the case.

As for me, I'll see it, but not in the theaters. Regardless of where the money goes from the gate of this film and who's profiting off of what, anything that heightens awareness and keeps 9/11 on the public's mind is a good thing. Some say it's too soon. I would say most have already forgotten.

I agree with Skerik it does seem a lot of people have forgotten already which to me is a crying shame. I won't see this in the theatres but I know for sure that'll catch it on DVD.

I'll either review it for the school paper or catch it on DVD... The last few Nic Cage movies have been really good IMO and I doubt this one will be much different.

But, I don't know, I just can't see myself watching the movie.

To me, it's more Titanic than Glory. But, I could be wrong.

I know we've had a good discussion on this one night, so you already know I'm about to say I agree completely.

I'd see this in the theaters, but I highly doubt I could find anyone to go with.

It's hard to believe we're coming up on five years after that tragic day.... Wow.

I may not go to the theatre to see it, since it's not something the wife would wanna see, and we definitely couldn't take the kids... I'd definitely like to check it out, though.

I'm gonna see it. For all the bad that happened that day, the story of these 2 is some of the good that came out of it. As bad as 9/11 was, there was a lot of good human stories to come out of it.

Good point.

My main problem is that something like this movie hits a lot closer to home than something from WWII. Watching the towers collapse from the street was NOT something I would like to relive on film... just watching the trailer alone is difficult.

I'm not so much concerned about political spin as I am that it was a movie created for profit, not awareness, on a topic that is still very touchy.

All IMHO, of course. I can see how some are fascinated by the whole thing... but no movie can ever top what I saw. I really think the movie won't do well here in NY.
