I just got back from the movie... very well done imo, especially the hits on the towers & the subsequent collapse.. i could not help but tear up not only for the on-screen images, but the memories that the movie brought back...

when the time is right for those who say it was too soon, I hope you have a chance at some point to watch the film..

No offense but that's ridiculous. Considering the actors they have in here, the quality and such they probably spent at least 30-50 million?

Exactly. Every single thing you mentioned is a COST of the film production.

But what happens when you hit a break even point and the film starts to turn a profit? There are DVD sales... Cable distributors... the money this movie will bring in doesn't end at the box office.

This is just going to open a can of worms. The argument that all profits should go to charity are made because the makers of the film are profiting off of a tragedy. I'm not offerring a solution or saying it is right or wrong for them to profit off a movie about the terrorist attacks, just pointing that out.

What about world war 2 movies, say like the mini-series Band of Brothers? That's a true movie too so are they "profiting off a tragedy"? (since many lost there life) Or how about Hotel Rwanda, that too? Schindlers List?

Movies are movies, if they happen to be about something sad that is only upsetting if they are inaccurate and poorly made. (then in that case they are profiting off a tragedy just to get the money made)

Just remember guys, when thinking about how chariatable a Hollywood studio is, that ANY money they donate is just one big tax writeoff anyhow. They are doing that for PR only, nothing else. Don't kid yourself, Hollywood isn't in this for charity.

Of course not. But it's better than movies in the past that donate no money, make up stuff about a real story and is bad quality to just make money.
