Who is playing drums for Motley Crue these days? I heard on the radio that they were going to be playing a concert near here next month with Aerosmith.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
My vote thus far is for Lukas or Dilana (she'd just need help writing lyrics, whcih might not be a bad idea since Tommy and Gilby do pretty well with that as well).BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
This week Toby gets to play with Gilby on Solsbury Road (sure I spelled that wrong) and was made to run around the pool naked to get the song from Dilana, Storm attempts to turn disco into rock and Zayara will be doing her original song in spanish.Comment

Feeling mighty sorry for Storm though -- "I Will Survive"? Yikes, why didn't she just put on some concrete shoes & jump in the pool? Last week it wouldn't be as worrisome, but with Jill & Josh gone, ANYBODY could end up in the bottom 3 now. At least if she ends up there, I can't see any way SN would send her home this soon (especially for singing that song!).Last edited by edmus; 08-15-2006, 01:13 AM.Comment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
I'm kinda pissed that Ryan didn't get to do his original song. I've heard some of his solo cd, and he would have absolutely killed it with his own original. Atleast he got a good song to sing.Comment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
That was funny. That is really gonna bite her in the ***. Wayyyyyyyy too early to be acting like a diva. The worst part wasn't that she said it, it was how she said it. "You might as well send the rest of these f-ckers home."
Ryan and Storm seemed to be the only ones who 'got it'. Why they brought them there. I loved Ryan's quote, "It made it that much more real. There are only seven people standing between me and a dream."Comment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
Real good webisode I thought. I'm kinda looking forward to hearing the acoustical performances this week, it'll really show off the rocker's voices.
It was interesting seeing Storm and Toby having such a hard time in the rehearsals. I don't think it matters that much because I still think Patrice or Zayra aren't going to make it much farther, and that gives the better rockers a couple more weeks to be able to get over poorer performances, kinda like what Ryan had to go through last week.
I cracked up during the webisode when Newsted mentioned that he was watching which rockers got a little too drunk and said he didn't want that in his band, or something along those lines. Has he forgotten who his drummer is? LOL.Last edited by aukevin; 08-15-2006, 09:42 AM.

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
From the Rockstar boards...
Zayra - "Luvia De Mar" (original song) by Zayra.
Ryan - "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins.
Dilana - "Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin.
Lukas - "Hero" by Chad Kroeger.
Toby (+ Gilby) - "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel.
Magni - "Starman" by David Bowie.
Storm - "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor.
Patrice - "Message in a Bottle" by The Police.
Stripped down night will be cool, but I want to see a freaking rock night sometime. Am I the only one? I would like to see a night where ALL the songs are ones like AC/DC, Metallica, GNR, etc. I realize CBS probably doesn't have the rights for them, but I'm not that excited about hearing Gloria Gaynor and Phil Collins songs.Last edited by aukevin; 08-15-2006, 09:42 AM.

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
My thoughts..
Zayra - "Luvia De Mar" (original song) by Zayra - I hope this is the last of Zayra, I really didn't enjoy hearing a spanish song even though it sounded good. Wasn't rock at all though.
Ryan - "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins - Did a good job. I missed the sound style that Collins has with this song though. I don't know how to describe it, but his version had that cooler sound to it instead of just straight vocals.
Dilana - "Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin - Not sure why the band thought this was the best, I liked Toby and Magni's better. I thought it was funny when she sang, "And the cat's in the cradle and the silver moon" rather than "silver spoon." She just did it once, if it were one of the non-favorites I imagine Supernova would have mentioned it.
Lukas - "Hero" by Chad Kroeger - Didn't really do anything for me, and it sounded like some other band to me, but I can't put my finger on who though. I kinda wish Newsted would get off his back with the vocals. That's his sound and it works for him IMO. I don't like Lukas as much when he opens it up.
Toby (+ Gilby) - "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel - Thought it was real cool. My favorite performance of the night, especially like the bongos. I thought he did a really good job.
Magni - "Starman" by David Bowie - Second favorite of the night. Magni's one of my favorites, solid perfomances each week.
Storm - "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor - Crappy song, not the greatest performance, but I thought Supernova came down on her way too hard. She tried to change it up so it wouldn't sound like a karaoke contest but it didn't turn out so well. I'd rather hear it that way than just a redo of the Gaynor way. I give her credit for trying to make something of it.
Patrice - "Message in a Bottle" by The Police - Didn't like it. Don't really like her either. She or Zayra can go. Zayra at least has a personality to keep her around, Patrice doesn't do anything that makes me want her to be there next week.

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
Zayra - GREAT performance, just not right for Supernova. But will all you bashers finally get off her back now? She has a hell of a voice.
Magni - Eh, solid, but I didn't get into it at all.(Bottom 3)
Patrice - Another performance we can all forget...(Bottom 3)
Lukas - Good performance, but he really needs to stop holding his power in with that growl.
Storm - Bad performance, as Tommy said, "That was sauteed in wrong sauce." She took it in stride though, and I think she will redeem herself tomorrow(Bottom 3)
Toby - Meh, good vocal performance but kind of lacking. Bongos were a nice touch though!
Ryan - What can I say? Another Killer performance! His vocals are really starting to shine and cut through the music, he just keeps getting stronger.(Encore)
Dilana - Good performance, but she flubbed on the lyrics... And once again, I don't like arrogant people, and she is getting very annoying with that ****.Comment

I thought he did a really good job.Even Gilby stunk on this one. Bongo boy seems like a nice guy, but he has no clue how to be vocally subtle or rhythmic, and "Solsbury Hill" demands it. He really should stick to the straightahead rock & roll songs, and stay away from the rhythmic stuff like this & "Burning down the House". I think practically anybody else on the show could've done a much better job with this... well maybe not Zayra! I would've really liked to see Storm or Magni perform it. I think they're the only ones who could've excelled with it.
Its funny listening to SN's comments, because I completely disagree with them often enough to realize I share little musical ground with them. I knew that going in -- I like a few songs by each of their bands but not enough that I've ever had any desire to buy a GnR or Metallica or Motley Crue CD (I'd rather listen to Dramarama, who nobody but Storm has ever heard of!). I'm just watching this show for pure entertainment value. I liked the performers on RS INXS a lot more than the competitors on this one too. And while I'm not a huge INXS fan either, their critiques were usually a lot more coherent & on-target than these guys.
Stone cold lock prediction -- So long Patrice! She just has that defeated look to her. She knows its over. Watching her perform "Message" was like seeing a noose gradually tighten over the course of the song. Her worst vocal performance by far, and the vocals are usually her strong suit.
Its funny how your opinions can change over the course of the show. Lukas' act is starting to grate on me a bit. And I'm starting to appreciate Ryan's singing a little more each week, though I still think he's too overdramatic.Last edited by edmus; 08-16-2006, 02:14 AM.Comment
