Re: Rockstar: Supernova
WTF was that **** from Newstead? Ryan rocked that bitch out and he said his stage presence isn't that great because he is better behind the piano? So because he is great behind the piano he can't be great as a front man? I'm sorry, but I thought that performance rocked, from the piano, to the crowd, then back to the piano.Comment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
Great show all the way around tonight. I liked all the performances. I couldn't believe the way Gilby bagged on Storm, I thought she nailed the song.
My favs for the night:
Toby's Rebel Yell: I thought this one was awesome. Som much intensity in the performance. I think over the past few weeks Toby has become my favorite right ahead of Magni.
Magni's I Alone: I really like this song in the first place, and he brought a lot to it. Magni's got a great voice for songs like this when it gets loud.
Storm's Bring Me Back to Life: I don't get Gilby's comments, I thought she was great. Toby did add a lot to the performance, but it was her vision of how to do the song. I thought it sounded great with her vocals.
Lukas's Lithium: I like when the rockers change up the songs so that you can hear their own spin on things. I like Nirvana's version better than Lukas's, but I still think he rocked it.
Dilana's Mother Mother: Can't stand Dilana, I seriously hope she doesn't when. But outside of my dislike for her and when she wrapped her leg around the guitarist (why didn't Gilby flip out about that?), there really wasn't anything wrong with the perfomance in my eyes.
Ryan's Clocks: I like Ryan, I think he's real good, but I don't like Clocks very much. Any of the rockers performing this song would have been disliked for me probably. The one thing I don't like about Ryan is his stage presence, he just seems out of place and I see why Newsted says that Ryan might get lost as a frontman of a big band. He seems more suited as a solo artist in my eyes. I think he's a great singer though, and I like his song writing skills as well.
I think all the songs were great though, not a single bad one. I'm seeing Storm go this week though, which stinks because I like her. Supernova just doesn't seem to think she fits, and I kinda agree. After seeing some of her original stuff around the Internet, I think she, like Ryan, is better off doing her own thing. I see the bottom three tomorrow as Storm, Ryan, and Lukas, although I hope it is Dilana and not Lukas.

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
The more I watch these guys, the more it seems very obvious that Toby will front Supernova.
He's certainly not my personal favorite, but that's ok, because there's no way in hell I would ever listen or buy a Supernova album. The show rocks because I love watching them sing classic songs in front of an incredible house band.
Toby just has the rocker image and voice that Supernova would most likely want. I can't see a woman fronting the band because the image is just too masculine for it. Magni seems a bit too complex for the straight ahead rock that we will be seeing...Ryan has a different style as well. Lukas, while interesting, also doesn't compete with Ryan in terms of rock presence.
I think Storm will be the next to go, and the final 3 will end up being Toby, Magni and Dilana.Comment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
LMFAO!
Ryan just gave Supernova a swift kick to the nuts with that parting shot. You could even see Newsted was like WOW by the way he was shaking his head.
EDIT: The quote(s)!
Do you have anything to say to the guys?
"Sure... Um.... I just wanted to say, that I think you guys could have put out great music for 20 years with me as your singer. So I'm sorry for that."
"I'll see you guys on the record charts, because that's where I'll be hangin' out."
He took a big *** shot at their songwriting ability.Last edited by eXperiment63; 08-30-2006, 07:55 PM.Comment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
What a joke. Ryan was not going to win, but he had no business being kicked off in favor of Storm. So, it is quite simple, Storm was kept on for one of two reasons (or both):
1. Wanted to keep the genders as close to equal as possible for as long as they can
2. Tommy still hasn't nailed it yet and thinks he just needs one more weekComment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
I don't think you missed much after just knowing who leaves. I didn't think the performances were that great, although Lukas singing with Supernova was pretty interesting. Storm's Helter Skelter was light years better than Patrices though, that's for sure. I thought she had the best of the elimination songs. Dilana's song just sucked I thought, she better be glad that she is in good favor with the band to let it slip this time. Toby got the encore, and his performance wasn't as great as Tuesday's, but encores rarely are I think.
One other thing to note was that Magni was the only rocker not to be in the bottom three at anytime this week.
I was kinda surprised that Ryan left, I was thinking it would be Storm. But Supernova really seems to like rockers that can make the stage their own and Storm is definitely that. Ryan really couldn't do that and looked awkward when he tried IMO. I guess you could say that the network would want Supernova to keep a couple girls, I'd buy that, but I think she is very talented, so to say she's only there because Tommy wants to nail her is a stretch. I do think Storm is the most likely to go next, but I hope to see her or Magni perform with Supernova next week.

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
I personally thought he was a bit of a jerk in his online exit interview when he explained those final comments a little more. Good luck to him in his solo career though, I think that will work better for him anyway.

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
I can't watch anything on their site, so I can't see it. If he was, I can see why. The guy is bitter. He has gotten nothing but praise from everyone involved for weeks now, and he gets cut when they basically say, "Ryan you've grown so much, and Storm, you haven't grown any." How would you feel? That is a big *** slap to the face.
EDIT: I forgot to say something.
I think they got rid of Ryan before he got bigger than them. Did everyone else notice how they just forgot about doing an encore last week when it was OBVIOUS Ryan would have gotten it? That would be 3 encores in 4 weeks. He obviously had the fans behind him at the joint. I mean jesus, one of em yelled at Newsted to F OFF when he was criticizing him. Then they got soundly boo'd while kicking him. He will get the crave encore and perform on the final episode. And to be honest, he is gonna put them to shame on their own stage one final time.Last edited by eXperiment63; 08-31-2006, 12:01 PM.Comment

Re: Rockstar: Supernova
yeah their site sucks. I just go to video.msn.com and look for Supernova stuff. I agree that it was weird how they complimenting him and didn't Storm so much, but let him go. He shouldn't act so bitter though. He did get a good one on Gilby in his online exit interview. He basically said all that crap about Gilby noticing how much he's grown is wrong, Ryan says he's been the same performer in the past and only Newsted bothered to look at their stuff before Supernova, otherwise Gilby would have seen what he's like on stage.I can't watch anything on their site, so I can't see it. Re: Rockstar: Supernova
I still think he will outsell them though. They are just gonna be a cookie-cutter band, while he is going to be a cutting-edge artist. His solo stuff truly is amazing.Comment
