Wow... people like to spread **** eh? Tommy Lee wasn't against Dilana because she was female. And yea... they already lost their court appeal on the name, and it wasn't a 70's band. It's an indie band that is out right now.

So Supernova is going to have to change their name? Or did the other group lose the appeal?

JD Fortune said in an interview a week or 2 ago, that he was picked by INXS before the show began as well.
Link? JD and the other guy last year were pretty even with Mig being along for the ride. I really didn't think Lukas would win.

I'm trying to find it, I'll keep looking, it was linked off of 6767.com (Navarro's personal site). Janet Charlton is the one who broke the Lukas info, she did it like 5 or 6 weeks ago. Navarro has been denying it for weeks on his site. Been a mess it seems. But now, 6 weeks later, Lukas wins and has almost zero emotion about it. Yet, Magni and Toby both seemed like they knew they were gone, Magni even played with SuperNova at the end when Lukas was singing (found that VERY odd).

Based on this, I think is where the Fortune info comes from. I guess he said it in an interview, saying that INXS liked and picked him from the beginning, basically telling him, if he got to the finals, he was the winner.

Newsted hurt his shoulder last week and won't be in the band anymore because of a lengthy rehab. They are looking for a new bassist for their tour.

So, the album comes out Tuesday... Anyone have plans on picking it up, or acquiring it via other methods? While it's getting absolutely ripped apart, my interest is at least drawn to it because Butch Walker has writing credits on all but one of the tracks. So far, everything I've heard has sounded exactly like an outtake from his last album, The Rise & Fall... Hopefully, the album at least somewhat comes through because of that.

                    Re: Rockstar: Supernova

                    Very, very disappointing effort.

The songs them self are quite capable of standing on their own, which, of course, I'm not surprised given who the writer was. There are hooks all over the place, and everything is very catchy.

                    But...

You can tell the instrumental tracks were laid down months prior to actually selecting Lukas as the singer. Thus giving the entire CD this horrible karaoke sound. If the album had actually been created like any other release, the quality would likely have been much, much better. Not to mention, I'm fairly certain that Butch had no actual say in how the vocals were mixed with his instrumentals, which makes for some horrible timing issues on a number of the songs.

                    And not to mention...

Lukas Rossi is a horrible vocalist. Yeah, I said it. I've seen all his performances by now, after having given up on the actual series, and the guy can just flat-out not sing. Sure, he has the prototypical, cliche look that this band was surely looking for, but he simply does not have the talent to stand up with what the other three members and the writer have brought to the table. In hindsight, the band made a horrible decision in not going with someone like Toby, Ryan, Josh, or even Phil who has range and can actually match the sound of the tracks that were put in front of them.

Long story short? The entire project would have just been so much better had they simply released the demos that were recorded, with Butch doing the stand-in vocals. With Butch's masterful mic work, he could have made this album something incredible. Instead, it sounds more like a karaoke trainwreck.

This band is a joke. I feel bad saying that since I know Lukas personally(He lived with my cousin when he was in Montreal).

I haven't heard the new album yet but I already bought tickets for January 23. I think this band is about appearance more then anything else. I agree with Lukas not being able to sing. First of all, the technique he uses is horrible. Give it a couple of years till that growl he has starts wearing out his vocal chords. Second of all, like you said, his vocal range is horrible. Also, recording an album before you know your singers range and style is the worst thing you can do. They shoulda known better.

Without Newstead now I can imagine how boring this concert will be. I mean, I don't like Gilby, Newstead is hurt, and T Lee, well he probably doesn't even care bout' this band, it's just another side project for him.

Actually, with Newstead being injured, they picked up a much better bassist, in my opinion, in Johnny Colt.

That's pretty awesome but still, I don't see this band going very far.

Oh, I still definitely agree. I'll be surprised if they even make it through the entire tour.

Ok, so I just screened the album. Lukas doesn't sound bad at all on the album IMO. He doesn't fit the style of music, but he doesn't sound bad. The album is horrid, I kept laughin, but he sounds fine IMO. They would have been better by 10x if they had chosed Ryan as their frontman, but everyone knows that. HE is more talented by himself than that entire band.

^That can be backed up too. He plays the sax, piano, guitar, drums, and bass; all extremely well. Not to mention he is an amazing singer and songwriter.

One of his new songs for those who haven't seen it.
