Re: Pirates of the Carribean 2

Am I the only one who hated both the first and second one? I didn't even finish the first one when I saw it two years ago. While I was on leave, I went to see POTC 2 with my grandpa because he likes action movies and the film broke two hours into it; we just left without wanting to see the rest of it. I in no way liked either movie and don't understand how so many people love it. To each their own, I guess.
Back in the NCAA saddle after 17 years.

The first one was pretty good...I didn't really understand the heaps of praise that it got. The second one was an OK movie, not too great but just alright. I didn't think the plot went anywhere in the second one and it didn't help that the characters seemed to change so much. Sparrow went from being a good guy with some bad actions to a straight out bad guy who is funny sometimes. Elizabeth's character was very weird in the second movie. She would be tough and able to fight with men and beat them up, and two minutes later be whining and weakly throwing rocks at people. I guess I didn't get it.

I have no interest in any of the Pirate movies, but for all the fans out there, the 2 Disc DVD is packed with special features.

1 Disc only gets a blooper reel and 2 commentaries by the writers.

Here's what you get with the 2 Disc Set which arrives Dec 5th:

The two-disc collector's edition will include that along with a Charting the Return pre-production documentary, an According To Plan: The Harrowing and True Story of Dead Man’s Chest documentary, a Captain Jack: From Head To Toe featurette, a Mastering The Blade: Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport featurette, a Meet Davy Jones: Anatomy Of A Legend featurette, and a Creating The Kraken featurette. Completing the package will be a Dead Men Tell New Tales: Re-Imagineering The Attraction feature, Jerry Bruckheimer: A Producer's Photo Diary, a Fly On The Set: The Bone Cage featurette, and Pirates on Main Street: The Dead Man’s Chest Premiere. This one will also arrive in limited availability holographic packaging.

No Short, you are not alone-I found the first one to be unspectacular and the second one to be spectacularly boring.

Might just be me...but the movie seemed a lot better watching it for a 2nd time.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but that 3-way fight at the end is one of the most boring action scenes I've ever seen. If I wanted to see three invincible and untouchable characters fight amongst themselves for that long, I could watch a 3 Stooges marathon.

i haven't seen this yet, but isn't this always the case with the 2nd movie of a trilogy? Basically serving as a setup for #3?

Yup...second movie always seems lackluster, in my opinion.

The problem I'm seeing so far is that the characters haven't changed. The only character development that may have happened in PoTC2 was Will connecting with his father. I just feel as if the story (if there is an overarching story) is taking its sweet time getting started. Usually a trilogy of 2.5 hour movies would have room for more dramatic turns and whatnot.

If "The Empire Strikes Back" had setup ROTJ like PoTC2 did, it wouldn't have had the confrontation scene between Vader and Luke or any scenes with Yoda. It also would have ended with Luke, Lando, etc about to leave for Tatooine when...

                      **** Spoilers I guess******

Grand Moff Tarkin emerges from the shadows and says:

"Hey, let's go rescue Han Solo and then overthrow the Emperor. Yeah, I'm back from the dead. George Lucas is going to ruin these movies in twenty years anyway so I just thought I would start the party early. Aww yeh."

I think why this movie was just boring to bad most of the time was because it sets up the 3rd movie like the 1st lord of the ring sets up the rest of them. I still like the 2nd movie though but it could of been a little better
