Re: The Descent....
Deleted & Extended Scenes, Interview with Neil Marshall. Something called DescENDING. The Descent: Beneath the Scenes. Outtakes, Still Gallery. Storyboard & Scene Comparision.
Mind you the Unrated Version is the Original Version, not the version shown in US TheatersComment

Re: The Descent....
Right, but the only difference between the original and the US version is the ending, correct?

Re: The Descent....
It was my favorite movie of they year. I'm partial to sci-fi/horror, though. Picked it up today and plan to watch it tonight. It's been awhile since I've had anything "really" positive to say about a horror film.Comment

Re: The Descent....
I'm going to try and weasel my way into circuit city this Friday night and use my gift card towards the DVD and some other things. I can't wait to see this again. Such an awesome, freaky experience.

Re: The Descent....
Awesome movie and puts The Cave to shame imo. I really liked the suspense at the beginning of the movie and the ending caught me off guard as I'm still trying to figure out the meaning at the end.Comment

Re: The Descent....
* * * * SPOILER * * * *
The final shot gives us the indication that there may not have been any creatures to begin with. Earlier in the film they talked about the effects that the cave could have on the human body and mind, and one of them was hallucinations. The film doesn't flat-out tell you whether the creatures were real or not, and they leave it up to you to decide whether Sarah lost her mind and was really the killer the whole time, or whether the creatures were in fact real.
There are indications sprinkled throughout the film that it may have been all in Sarah's mind, the fact that she kept hearing her dead daughter was among them, and that shot of her staring at her daughter at the end was a hallucination. All of the other were gone (presumably dead, the only that we didn't see die was Juno), and Sarah is left alone in the dark to slowly sink into madness and die.
There were 5 candles on the birthday cake in Sarah's hallucinations; there were 5 women in the cave with her. Symbolism that points toward Sarah extinguishing her five friends.

Re: The Descent....
There was a discussion about interpretations of this movie either on rottentomatoes.com or imdb.com. Some people thought that the entire cave-diving experience is a representation of Sarah's own descent into madness and might not have actually happened. Then of course there is Blzer's, which I've seen other people come up with as well.
