It was pretty good, but it wasn't that scary. Didn't live up to the hype to me as is usually the case with most movies.

I just got back from seeing it. That movie was terrific! Definitely one of the scariest movies I've seen in a movie theater. I think the scariest thing about it was that I was nearly one of the only people in there. A late 10:00 showing didn't attract too many people.

I saw the Saw III trailer, also. S'awesome!

By the way, I have a question regarding [not the movie itself, but] something in the movie. It's not a spoiler, but just... how does a lighter/match determine directing one's self through a cavern? I heard it was something about the grease, but how does grease only end up in certain parts of caves anyway, and not others?

Also, is blood flammable?

You use it to detect wind/a breeze. If you noticed, they went the way that moved the flame. If there is wind from a tunnel, then there is an exit somewhere down that tunnel.

I saw it opening night, and I still haven't forgotten it... hence why I continue to check this thread.

I didn't think anything was bland about it. It was flat out frightening.

Same here, the movie was haunting. I want to forget but I keep checking this thread to relive the experience and see what others think of the nightmare.

yeah, watching them in the cave, and how they reacted was crazy....I saw this Saturday and I know I winced a few times during the movie....glad I randomly decided to see it

All the characters outside of Sarah were under-developed. So under-developed that I didn’t care about any of them. I could care less if they died or survived.

The scary parts were straight out of Horror Movie Making 101. I’m talking about the bluffs where it looks like it’s a monster but it just turns out to be one of ladies.

Because most of the movie takes place inside a cave, the screen was mostly dark.

Perhaps the only redeeming part of this film is when one of the ladies kicks a dead monster after it was no longer alive. I got a chuckle out of that scene.

For once, I agree 100% with asianflow. Didn't really like this at all

I can't believe it myself but I do too. Just watched this with my wife and we both were like meh. Not horrible, but nothing remarkable about it. Wasn't the least bit scarey, the characters were nothing special. I really don't see what the big deal was. Wasn't the worst movie I've seen, but overall just nothing great about it. Something to see if there's nothing better to watch I guess.

Just got back and I disagree completely with asianflow.

Bland and generic, I'm not so sure. I mean, its a horror movie, so of course its going to be a little generic, because it fits into the horror/suspense genre.

I actually thought the characters were developed good enough for the movie. It wasn't anything outstanding and they were a little 2D, but the parts they fleshed out were good for the plot.

I'm not sure if you're saying that is a problem with the film (I personally loved it) or if you're just stating a fact.

Anyway, I really enjoyed the film and will at the very least rent it when it is released on DVD.

I just got done watching the original ending via youtube. I'm split on the endings. I liked both for different reasons, although the "cake" scenes seemed to be irrelevant in the US version I suppose.
