Co-sign. I agree that it was a better experience pre-monster though.

I fell asleep towards the end, so I guess you could say I didn't like it either. But I didn't think it was bad, I'm just not a big fan of this kind of horror movie. But I do enjoy caving and thought this was a great idea for a movie, it can get creepy down there.

Co-sign for me as well. I felt like everything in the movie worked perfectly together.

            *************SPOILERS**************

My take (and I apologize for the lateness): Monsters were real considering most of the charcaters had their own individual encounters with the same creatures. Especially considering that the one chick analyzes a dead one and goes into her own theory of how they came to be...evolving to live at those depths without light. I don't think 6 people hallucinate about seeing the exact same monsters with the same capabilities.

As for the ending - very well done. The Director states that it isn't a "Happy Ending" for audience who is hopng someobody escapes the cave. However, if the main character is "Happy" in her mind - then that's all that should matter and is actually a "Happy Ending" since the main character is usually in a situation they seem pleased and satisfied with in the end. That would explain why I had no problem with it initially. More impactful and thought-provoking IMO. Not mention rather fresh.

It was a very good movie, and props to the director.

I went caving last weekend with some friends and every time it got a little quiet one of us would start making that cave mutant clicking noise and start crawling around like them. LOL

Just watched this movie for the first time. Damn good movie. Not as scary as I thought, but most horror movies aren't. Still...don't think I'm ever going caving.

                      Major bump for Halloween month.

I just finished watching this on DVD. I loved it as much as, if not more than, when I saw it in theatres. I love the whole atmosphere of it all, how the screen is barely half-full throughout most of the movie. Not to mention the whole mind-**** of it all. Definitely an awesome horror flick though; great way to start off Halloween month.

The use of lighting while inside the cave is magnificent. Like you said, filling most of the screen up with darkness and then 1/4 here and there with light adds to the illusion of being stuck inside a dark cave with no hope of escape.

If I wanted to make a corny cave movie it would be in a giant cave with light everywhere except for a few spots here and there. Sadly, that's what most directors in the horror film industry would have done.

Kudos to the director and the cinematographer of The Descent for getting this right.

This was one of the best horror films, I've seen in a long time. And I generally hate horror movies.

Just finished watching the movie, and I must say it was good. I was looking for a good horror movie and I got a good psychological one as well. The movie used a lot of studlness which really helped it out a lot.

I'm not a fan of unfinished endings, but it sort of worked with this one.
