I loved both the Descent and The Mist.

Re: The Descent....
Just finished watching the movie, and I must say it was good. I was looking for a good horror movie and I got a good psychological one as well. The movie used a lot of studlness which really helped it out a lot.
I'm not a fan of unfinished endings, but it sort of worked with this one.SpoilerTo me it's almost like she became one of them by the end"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The Descent....
Got this on a impulse buy at Wally World. $10 + tax for a blu ray. Pretty good movie. Excellent PQ.
Just hate that Lionsgate pretty much ensures you ruin the case by putting hard to remove security tape on 3 sides.Comment

Re: The Descent....
Everyone keeps referring Dog Solider, when i saw that a couple years ago it was on the SC-FI channel. For anyone that watches that channel, all of their original movies are so low budget its almost embrassing to watch it. I thought it was a SC-FI original, i watched it but didn't pay full attention. However i am a big Werewolf fan. I guess i'll go rewatch this time without the SC-FI channel horribleness being in the back of my mindComment

Re: The Descent....
Yea it was the UK ending, that's why i said the ending was almost sort of incomplete or very subtle. The overall tone of the movie was pretty good. The beginning started off with some tension, but half way through it became more about a psychological ride then a scare fare which sort of helped the movie lose the predictability most horror movie get.

If it was intended to be a somewhat dark comedy then it succeeded but I was so shocked it was so bad that I question anyone's taste who actually thinks this is a top tier horror movie. It wouldn't scare a 10 year old.Comment

Re: The Descent....
If you have the DVD then you'll have it. It's the Uncut version of the film.
If the movie ends in a car, then you saw the American version. The UK version is maybe an extra minute. It's not long at all, but it changes the movie."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: The Descent....
Don''t get your hopes up. I bought into the hype thinking that Dog Soldiers was some great horror movie and it was a campy mess. It started out alright but I almost couldn't even finish watching it because it got so corny and the werewolves were so fake in a low budget kind of way that I couldn't stop laughing at the end and it became an unintentional comedy which isn't good when you were expecting a great horror movie.

It wouldn't scare a 10 year old.this is funny because it's exactly how i felt while watching it. Never did it occur to me that the director was trying to scare me. The Werewolves themselves looked sort of cheap. The movie did seem to have a rather low budget which is why i thought it was a SC-FI original.
But maybe if i watch it with an open mind it might seem alrightComment

Re: The Descent....
The UK is even going with the car ending (I think) because there's a sequel dropping at some point soon, and they're going back into the same cave.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: The Descent....
SpoilerThe "uncut" DVD release had the movie end at the cave. Her escaping and driving away was part of her imagination/dream before it cut back to her at the cave.
The idea of a second film is dumb.

Re: The Descent....
I think his point was that they are ignoring the uncut version by having a sequel. There's no way a sequel makes sense with the uncut version.
Actually, it doesn't matter. Descent is a bad movie if it goes by the US ending. It's the only time the film tried to be like every other stupid horror film out there. If there's a sequel, I won't watch. I won't even acknowledge it. Go ahead, make a thread, I will find a way to delete it. I swear."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: The Descent....
What didn't you understand?
I still think the idea of a second movie is stupid, no matter if they're ignoring the uncut/European release or not.
