I dont think thats what Jack meant. He referred to him like he was alive and I think that the chief of surgery would have been a little taken aback if he was talking about his dead father. Now im just confused because it cant be the future if his father is still alive.

From another board....
The funeral parlor name, Hoffs/Drawlar, is an anagram for "flash forward."Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

I heard "neither" also.
As for who's in the casket, you have to wonder whose death would make Jack jump off a freaking bridge and kill himself. Unless something dramatic happens towards the beginning of the next season, the only two people I'd put in that category right now are Juliette and Kate. We know Kate's alive, so....
I think his suicide attempt had more to do with the fact that his life hit rock bottom and the obituary of the person from the island reminded him that leaving the island was a mistake.Comment

whoever Jack was mourning over....
According to those photos, it was a man, he was discovered in a loft in LA at 4 am... he committed suicide by hanging himself from a beam and he has some connection to New York. His last name also ends with ingham.
That's it so farhttp://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: ***LOST Official Season 3 Discussion**** (Contains West Coast spoilers)
That last name ending doesn't match anyone we've met yet on the island. It also looks like you can make out a J at the beginning of the first name. Which leaves John Locke and James Sawyer in play....except for that last name ending. I wonder what Jacob's last name is. As someone stated on that site, you can't read too much into the New York connection because the person may have lived there following their return to civilization without being from there originally.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Those people on there have some interesting theories aka....
It's not "future Jack" those scenes were still flash backs. All of those scenes took place in the past because Jack says "Call my father down here and if I'm more drunk than he is, you can fire me." So it must take place in the past because Jack's father is still alive. This means that Jack and Kate had been on the island together before. This is their second time on the island.PS4: aBayBates
