That's EXACTLY what I thought when I saw the previews to this movie. Didn't plan on seeing it, I'll give it a rental at best.

The only thing it has in common with the TV show is the name. You don't need to know a thing about the old series.

I'm still a huge fan of the tv show. Ranks #2 behind The Simpsons on my all-time favorite list. Got the first two seasons on DVD and can't wait for season 3 to come out. I'm skeptical about the movie, despite the Michael Mann involvement. You also have to wonder if Mann had all of the control on this too. Maybe the actors or the studio tried to change things too? I dunno. It just isn't the same as the tv show, and I know it really can't be, but still. The reviews have been mixed. I've heard the plot is terrible and Jamie Foxx is underused, but you have to expect that since Tubbs was Crockett's sidekick. Some might think the plots in the tv show were terrible too. I may wait until it comes out on DVD to watch it.

Thats how I thought it looked from the trailer and the few reviews I've seen pretty much confirm it as well. This one is a rental at best me thinks.

Oh and Bad Boys 2 was a bad knock off of Bad Boys.

just got back from seeing this movie and my only recommendation is to avoid this movie like the plague...

By far the most incoherent piece of junk I have ever seen. The first hour and 30 minutes is unintelligable, and the last 15 minutes of action in no way makes up for it. What action is there, is good, but it's so little that it can't save this movie...

I give it 1.5 out of 5 stars.

I have to agree. This is Mann's first bad movie in my opinion. One its hard as hell to make out what people are saying. They have an Irishman trying a Southern Accent (Colin Farrell), a jamaican trying a NY accent (Jamie Foxx's girl) and a asian barely being able to speak english. I have never seen a movie where I wasnt able to understand pages of dialogue because of the accents.

Also to be an action movie there was very little action. There were no action scenes for the first 2 hrs of the movie. I love Mann's movies and Foxx and Ferrall's acting but this was just bad.

One last point, This wasnt bad because it was a remake of Miami Vice. It was bad because it was poorly written and edited. It would have sucked if it was called Baltimore Vice or LA Vice.

And its action scenes werent all 5 minutes too long. Cut 15 minutes from BB2 and its a much better film. Bad Boys 2 was just trying way too hard.

One thing I never understood was the "this movie was too long" comments about BB2. I didn't even realize it had been 2:45 hours when the movie had ended.

But that's a different subject.

Disappointing hearing this movie isn't that good, from the few reviews we've had...

Wow I didn't know it was over 2 hours long. I have it on dvd and I've watched it a few times and it never felt long.
