    Re: Brokeback Mountain

Im sorry guys, but its really becoming a bit much to continue to post gay thread after gay thread by asianflow, and they always take a turn for the worse in the end.

The first sign of a wrong turn and this thread is locked.

I dunno, I thought it was a well made movie to a point. There are some things that just make u scratch your head, but overall it was well done. I didn't want to like it and I didn't necessarily, but I didn't hate it

I thought it was just a bad movie. If it didnt have the "scene" nobody would have even cared about this movie.

So if two gay guys are married and have an affair its a beautiful love story, but if two married guys have an affair with other women they are terrible people. Is that about right?

I thought the movie was very boring. Even my girlfriend who wanted to watch it eventually walked outside for a few minutes because it was so bland. I agree with..I forget who said..If they weren't gay the movie wouldn't have received as much hype.

I didn't see "Brokeback," but it sounds like both of the contenders for Best Picture polarized people this year.

I saw "Crash" and thought it sucked. Cliched, overwrought, etc., etc.

              To each their own!

I loved Crash. One of those movies that made me think afterwards....... Didn't see "Broke back" but the wife did and said it was disgusting. She didn't know what it was about when she went with her friends to see it.

I believe Crash was overdone. I look at that production as one of the most overrated pieces in my lifetime.

No...It's not exactly a beautiful love story since the affair ruined their lives. There's no double standard in this situation either.

For instance, let's say there's a movie where a man and woman met in their younger years, but being together was virtually impossible (maybe a Romeo Capulet/Montague situation). Then, they go separate paths and marry other partners. If they reconnected later in life and had a torrid secret affair, a movie would not paint them in a negative light. Bad things would probably happen and people would be hurt, but it would be mostly blamed on fate.

This is pretty much what happens in Brokeback Mountain. The movie is maybe guilty of not being very original, but it's not guilty of a double standard.

If you're committed to another partner, an affair is wrong no matter what the hell you have it with.

I totally agree with your assesment of Crash. The typical cliched race relations movie. I don't mind if a movie is preachy, but it has to atleast have some plot. All Crash did was throw a bunch of stereotypes in a room and watch them kill each other for two hours. If you want a good movie about race...check out Do The Right Thing

Also hated Crash....Just like the last poster said, it was simply a bunch of shocking racist scenes thrown together for the benefit of our entertainment.
