Re: SNL makes cast changes
The 75-80 cast was indeed a great cast that was the launchpad for future superstardom but when I look at reruns from that era I can't help but be bored. Don't get me wrong I see the comedic genius of it but it was definitely a product of its time.
The Eddie Murphy-Joe Piscopo years were a bit uneven mainly due to the other castmembers but those two really carried the show. I loved that one skit where Piscopo was Sinatra and Murphy was Stevie Wonder and they're singing "ebony and ivory"
The cast with Phil Hartman is easily my favourite. There was a lot of creativity in those days but again it could be wildly uneven. I vividly remember watching some episodes where it was best to turn it off after the WU.
The only people in recent years that I've liked are Darrell Hammond and Tina Fey.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: SNL makes cast changes
It will come back, it was pretty bad in the late 90s after those stars left, it took a while but the Ferrel-led cast came through and it became watchable again. They need to keep tinkering with the cast until they find a mix that works. It hasn't been watchable in the past few years, time to clean house and try to get something that works.Comment

Mike Myers rule on that show. They need better writers the skits are lame! AND Will was great too, but it is time for the show to go away.Comment
