As for new comedies sucking...in a word, YES! All the Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn stuff, IMO, blow! It's the same jokes recycled over and over and they are intended for the preteen and high school audience (hence the preponderence of the PG-13 rating). The downfall started with the 'American Pie' series, but at least those were good!

I like coming out of movies with genuine laughs, not feeling that I'm less intelligent, which seems to be the only thing most of these "comedies" have going for them. Different strokes for different folks, though, right? I mean I did laugh quite a bit at 'Dodgeball' and one of my favorites is 'There's Something About Mary', despite my disdain for the starring actors.

Dick and fart jokes are only so funny (when you are 10 and your testicles haven't dropped), as you get older it begins to take more to get real laughs...and if it doesn't there's a whole other host of issues.

*EDIT: So genius was a bit too strong a word. They still eclipse the modern trash though.*
If you are limiting yourself to Stiller, Wilson, and Vaughn movies then yes they are going to be around the same thing. People always pine for the "old days" when those same movies that you love were seen as crap by people back then.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I could also add in the recent "college" humor flicks for being crap as well...especially since they are watered down for the PG-13 rating. Porky's and Animal House trump anything in that genre.
