RIP and I'm sorry to hear about this but this happening only shows how stupid it truly was for him to hold his baby while feeding that crocodile. With wild animals you can't predict what's going to happen.

Stingray barb ^ man that sux he had a real passion for animals. I was watching the show once when one of his older crocs had died he was crying for it like it was his mother that had passed or something holding it in his arms,kissing it everything they had a funeral for it pretty emotional stuff. I mean any dude who can still have love for a croc that has been trying to kill him everyday for the past 10 or 11 years has to be a good person.

It was said the Stingray's barb went right thru his chest. Is that even possible? I don't know much about it and I did a Google and Wikipedia search and it did not answer my question.

With the sharpness of what it is, it's very possible. Think of other animals that could sting. I mean, just like a marlin can, a stingray can. Second animal killing of a "public" person in a year. Weird.......

He's dead, so yeah its possible.

This was kind of surprising, and kind of not. It was assumed he'd eventually meet his end doing something like this, though I don't think anyone would have guessed a sting-ray would be the culprit.

I feel for his wife and kids. I don't know how you tell an 8 and a 3 year old they're never going to see their dad again.

Damn, this sucks big time. Steve was one of those rare individuals who had a strong knack for entertaining people, and actually had a helluva time while doing it. The guy just always seemed like he was having the time of his life whenever you watched his show, saw him on talkshows, you name it. I'm going to miss him, and I hope for the best for his family, especially his two children.

Certainly. Those things are shot with such force. Unfortunately, it went right through his heart. If it hits him most other places, he might still be alive.

Apparently they're rarely fatal. The report I just saw said it probably went in through his abdomen up into his heart - not straight through the breastplate - which I think qualifies it to be a really freak accident. F'ing weak, he was really entertaining.
