Is it a great song? Yes. Is it one of the greatest rock songs ever? I think that's a little much.

I don't even think it's the greatest song released this year.

        Greatest song ever? Please.

What does this song have that will seperate it from the masses and make it memorable even five years from now?

Good song, but not even close to the Foos' best.

One of the great songs in rock history? Maybe if you're 17 and have no clue about the history of rock.

For the record, Everlong was released three years ago.

What did you think of In Your Honor, PK? (the double album, not the song) I think the acoustic cd was actually better than the traditional rock cd. I think my favorite song on that album was Over and Out.

Fittingly, I've never heard of it prior to this thread. I don't consider it to be anything special, but I've been straying from popular music in general, and am more appreciative of other genres now. The exception is the Chili Peppers. I think their new album is fantastic.

                    Meth:

Agreed. The acoustic version was more interesting than the electric version.

I think the Foos issued the acoustic version because Dave Grohl is smart enough to realize that the Foos have fallen into a very formulaic sound. Build an album with chord-heavy rockers with Grohl screaming repetitive choruses at the top of his lungs and then mix in a few slower numbers for good measure. That's the basic recipe of EVERY Foo Fighters' album.

But making an acoustic record really isn't a big creative departure. I hope the Foos experiment with their sound and take a few chances with their next record, as I'm losing interest in the band due to its formulaic sound. And I've been with the Foos since the debut album.

                    Take care,

I liked the Foo's acoustic side of the In Your Honor CD, but I didn't like it as much as some of their previous acoustic stuff. I like when he uses his heavier voice mixed in his acoustic songs, from what I remember of that acoustic CD, there wasn't as much of that.

Not to get picky, but Everlong was released back in 1997. It was one of the soundtracks to my freshman year of college.

It wasn't even one of the five best songs on The Colour & The Shape.

Colour and the Shape is my favorite Foos CD. Most of those CDs during my high school years are still my favorites...Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, STP, etc.

I'd probably put it a close second to There Is Nothing Left To Lose.
