Don't forget the cliched scene at the end where Liotta meets the boss lady in the pouring rain, saying he only wants about four more jobs because he just can't handle the balance of being a crook and a family man. Yet another example of how the moral dilemma is beaten over viewers' heads.

Well, if Liotta and crew handle one job per episode, that gives "Smith" about four more shows before it's mercifully canceled in October.

So it looks like Extreme's prediction is spot-on.

    Take care,

      Still a SPOILER******

Maybe only five episodes were bought. I'd guess that if the show were picked up for a full season the storyline will change dramatically including the "four jobs left" dilemma.

      But, that's obvious.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

The second episode of SMITH is on tonight.

I'm looking forward to it. The show may not have staying power, but I did enjoy the first.

I'll be curious to see if they show a glimpse of the crime and then go in depth throughout the rest of the episode, or if that was strictly limited to the pilot episode. I suspect/hope it's the latter, as it kind of kills the suspense if they show the act and its outcome in the first three minutes.

I find it ironic that all the malcontents find it perfectly o.k. to jump into a thread about a show they don't like and think it's fine. But when someone jumps into a thread about some of their interests or garbage shows they watch. Oh well then that's a travesty and their opinion is worthless!

In otherwords, if you don't like the show....take a hike.

          Boston Legal 6.4 rating
Smith 6.2 in only its 2nd episode.

Sucks to be Boston Legal....guess it's up for cancellation soon too.

Huh? Do you work for the CBS PR department?

Better yet, did you read the final line of the original post in this thread?

            >>>Is anyone else planning on, or even excited about, watching this show? If yes, let's use this thread to discuss it.<<<

Nowhere in that sentence did it read, "only those who like the show can discuss," or "only shiny, happy, tidy, positive Smith discussion is allowed."

Every one of us who think the show is a cliched piece of sh*t -- count me in that group -- has seen it. Sorry that it's not a touchy, feely "Smith" group hug that you want.

The show is excellent. I love the storyline and the plot I love how Liotta's wife is onto his scheme. The cars in it are wicked. I really love that scene where they were in the powerboat speeding past PNC Park!

It's a shame you can't appreciate a ground-breaking show. That isn't about doctor's, lawyers or cops as every 3rd other show is.

I guess you just love your reality t.v. crap and other boring t.v. drama's that week in and week out have the same plot. Man shot, must be saved, enter Dr.. Man killed murder must be found, enter cop.. Person breaches contract, must sue, enter lawyer. Then throw in some affairs, sexual tension a few more garbage storylines and there you have it Greysantomyhouseercsibostonlegallawandorder.

Since there's so many Dr. Lawyer Cop shows around they should just throw all the actors onto one big show, run it 4 hours straight and let them all interact so the networks can get all the collective garbage all out at once. And all the Dr. Lawyer Cop fan-boys can get their jollies.

Ground-breaking? Well, it's nothing that "Hustle" hasn't already done for the last three years on the BBC or "Heist" did earlier this year on FX. So much for original.

Well, I've never seen a single episode of "Grey's Anatomy," "House," "Boston Legal" or "Law & Order" in my life. Never have seen "Survivor" or "American Idol," either.

Nice try, sport. Don't pass Go, don't collect $200.

Ah, so either they don't exist or "Smith" can't be compared to them because you haven't seen them. Brilliant! I've seen all three and can make the easy comparison, which I've already done.

Good for you. Smith has Ray Liotta and other stars. Good plot and nice cars.

"Ishtar" had Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman. "Gigli" had Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. That didn't prevent them from being one of the two of the worst movies ever.

Even good actors like Liotta and Madsen can't take a sh*t script and a cliched plot -- good man doing bad things and trying to reconcile it in his mind; boy, I've never seen that before! -- and turn it to gold.

Smith is a great show. I don't care what anyone says. I'm tuning in tonight and every night. And if it's cancelled. Well back to PS2/PS3 for me.

This is the only program that has caught my eye in a long time. It's different than the typical medical, law, cop stuff.

I recorded tonight's show earlier and just watched it now..

I'm enjoying the show. I like that they aren't doing a job a show, and are actually working towards a storyline; instead of just having each show be a summary of a different job each week.

I've picked three shows this fall to follow on a weekly basis, and so far I haven't been let down by any of them. Initially, I considered Smith to be the least likely to "stick" for me, but I've been presently surprised with how it's developed so far.
