Re: Anyone watch MTV?
MTV is absolute garbage.
I remember when people started realizing this about 10 years ago. "They don't even play music videos anymore," people would say.
Almost hard to believe it's actually gotten worse. They really don't play music videos anymore."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Anyone watch MTV?
MTV still does have 4 or 5 diffrent stations that do happen to play music. If you want a music fix, those are the ones to go to. Its just ironic that a place that calls itself Music Television refuses to play music.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Anyone watch MTV?
Funny how MTV2 was created so that people could watch videos while MTV switched their agenda to shows. Now MTV2 is just as bad as MTV.
The only thing I do watch on occassion when I want to listen and watch music is MTV Hits."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Anyone watch MTV?
I would love a la carte programming from cable/satelite companies. I would to say pay $40 and be able to pick 40 channels that I actually want. Like on DirecTV, my life loves DIY, but to get it we needed to have like 8 channels and 10 XM channels we will never watch or listen to. Why not let me have a package where I can drop CMT for that.Comment

Re: Anyone watch MTV?
I never really watched MTV much. As a kid I would occasionally tune in during the morning to see the music video countdown. Through high school I watched it for one show, Jackass.
Currently, I literally never watch it. I don't think I've watched it once since Jackass went off the air.
It seems like MTV is old and busted. It used to be trendy and cool, but has since lost it's image. I don't think this is an isolated observation either, as I read about the company struggling to keep viewers, while also being unable to successfully get a solid foothold online.Enjoy football? Re: Anyone watch MTV?
anyone seen that sweet sixteen crap? holy sh@# that is terrible. all those girls on there should get punched in the face at the end of the show by the so called "dorky" girl that didnt get invited to their party. I would watch if that happened.Comment

Re: Anyone watch MTV?
i watch it. Some of their shows are addictive. I watch run's house and making the band, wild n' out, pimp my ride, two a days
I also watch the dumb shows because they be on but i dont schedule my time to turn to those shows they just be on and i watch and they are stupid funny. like real world, next, sweet sixteen, or what ever similar stupid show they choose to show.
I'm 27 but i think alot of teenagers and college students watches MTV. I thin thats their core audience.Comment

Now with alacarte, there are some people who wouldnt pick ESPN because they have no interest in sports (like my mother). Now do you honestly think that ESPN would take that loss in profits lying down? No. They will raise the per consumer fee to 5-9 dollars and most people will be paying nearly the same with less channels.
I work for a cable network and we realize that if the cable and satelite companies ever went "ala carte" the industry would go nuts.Comment
