I didn't realize it had poor ratings. What a shame. Many people are missing a very good show.
The ratings don't suck, but they aren't great either. That also amazes me, especially with the buzz this show creates. Whatever fans it has are very vocal, loyal fans.

I haven't even seen the ratings. The article just made it sound like there weren't too good when they said "few viewers".

It's one of the most Tivo'd shows though so that will give it a ratings bump

35 episodes next year? That's a ton of episodes. 9PM sucks though.

the ratings are 4 - 4.5+, which is killing NBC on thursdays, but what can they expect going against Grey's, Survivor, CSI

isn't Nielsen FINALLY including DVRs in their ratings schemes this year (just recently)? Up through 2006, I think they were strictly in homes without DVRs. However, in the DVR households, the show has to be watched within 48 hours of being recorded for it to count.

I really wonder what the effect that DVRs are having on TV watching habits now that they are becoming more mainstream? They've changed how I watch TV now as I don't revolve my schedule around watching a show when it's on...I watch it when I want.

Let's say Nielsen allows you a 4 day window to watch a show. Do you think that will increase the ratings of any shows? I really think it will have a profound impact on network series, and those that go head to head with other shows. The importance of placing your #1 show vs. their #1 show to "win" viewers will no longer be as important.

I really think a large chunk of Office viewers TiVo/DVR it.

Not only DVR/TiVo but what about online? I'm sure it's nowhere near large enough to make much of a dent... but I don't have a DVR, and I don't worry when I miss one of my shows because of the Internet.

Dont worry about that article. NBC actually renewed the show about 2 months ago but the official announcement came at todays upfronts. The president of NBC loves the Office and it will be around for a while/

Outside of sports, there is nothing I watch live anymore. I didn't even know what time the office started at to begin with.

I'm with you, except I usually watch The Sopranos live, give or take a 15 minute buffer.

That sucks that she got hurt, but this is good news:

Fischer had appeared with The Office cast earlier in the day to tout The Office's 2007-08 pickup—NBC will air 30 episodes next season, including five supersize segments—and was scheduled to appear Late Night with Conan O'Brien before getting waylaid.
