Multiple Oscar nominee James Woods comes to series television in SHARK, a legal drama from Oscar-winning Brian Grazer ("A Beautiful Mind," "24"). Woods plays the charismatic, supremely self-confident attorney Sebastian Stark, who brings his cutthroat style to the Los Angeles DA's high-profile crime unit after years spent cutting a wide swath as a defense attorney. Leading a team of new young lawyers, this shark now preys on the notorious among the city's rich and powerful. Oscar nominee Spike Lee directs the pilot.

PITCH: "House" in a courtroom. A prickly and ruthless -- though brilliant -- Los Angeles defense attorney played by James Woods switches sides and sets out to help the inexperienced and ineffectual district attorney's office.
BACK STORY: Mr. Woods was another movie star not looking to take on a TV show. "I just didn't want to play the same character again and again and again," he says. What changed his mind? A good script and a phone call from an old pal: CBS CEO Leslie Moonves.
ODDS: Good. CBS knows a hit when it sees one and gave "Shark" the pole position on its schedule. One weakness: Mr. Woods delivers such a tour de force that the other characters, with the notable exception of his daughter, are nearly invisible.
In general, I think Thursdays nights are an ideal time - the weekend isn't here yet, but it's close enough to feel good about its arrival - and it would be neat to find a show that adds to the anticipation of Thursday nights in general, on a weekly basis.
This thread can serve as a place for those watching the show to discuss it, and since the show doesn't start for a day or so, I'd be interested to see who intends to follow the show, or at least give the pilot episode a chance.
