Like everyone, obviously, they'll all learn to master their powers.

I really like how everyone's power is almost insignificant alone. But, together, they make sense.
Yeah, thats what I figured, but her "power" seems to have the most mystery behind it because it seems she can't really control it, but compared to the other characters, her's seems to be the most mysterious.

I don't know. Being able to regenerate cells within seconds, being able to fly, teleport, etc seem to be pretty significant.

Anyway, when the girl's dad got home, I was like "oh snap."

I thought it was a good show. Lots of stuff set up and nice twists with the girls dad and the guy's brother. I like the Japanese guy the most, he's funny. I think that Ali Larter's character is the most interesting right now, just like FT said, she's the most mysterious right now. If I'm bored tonight, I might watch it again to see what I missed.

I was expecting to see Weiss from Alias, also the pilot of Oceanic Flight 815, last night but he wasn't on it. I did see him in the previews for the coming weeks. I wonder if he will have superpowers or just a bystander in the show.

        Let me elaborate.

For instance. Ok, so the guy can fly. What's he going to do with that power? Just fly around and look at people? Maybe he can save a person from falling, but that's it. It's not like he has super strength and heat vision.

But, lets take the guy who can see the future with his paintings. All he can do is see it, he can't stop it. However, you got Hiro, the japanese kid that can travel/teleport through time. He can travel to that time with the heroes (I'm guessing in time he'll learn to use his power to bring people with him), the invincible girl can save someone from a burning truck, and so on.

Together their powers mean more. They can do anything as a team. Individually, they can only work within their limits (granted their limits are more significant than a regular person).

I had this arguement with my girlfriend, whats the point of flight without super strength?

Well, maybe he has a quickness to it. If so, someone who flies can patrol an area and help out. Maybe he will have the strength to move someone out of the way of an accident. Or maybe there's a explosive device that needs to be taken somewhere quick. The power of flight will speed you up to get it out of the area. If the person can control their flight, they can use gravity to give them that extra speed to swoop in and save someone or take someone by surprise to stop a crime.

I saw the pilot awhile ago and while I was initially excited it really was a let down. It was weird and the beginning was very drawn out and like some people have said, some of the powers seem insignificant. Hopefully they show more of them actually using their powers rather than the boring story.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Yeah, because character development and initially plotline is pointless.

Did I say that anywhere? The Wire is one of my favorite shows and the writers take time building everything up but the Heroes story was boring in my opinion.

It was the PILOT. Give the show some time to develop.

I'm really excited about this show. It looks like they will be stirring up some drama soon. I don't know about powers being significant, i'm sure they will work as a team when things start coming together.

I think this is going to happen in this show.

There's going to be a lot of background because there are so many characters. Every character needs a story.

I just started watching Lost: Season One and after three episodes I was beginning to worry that the show dragged too much. Luckily the next four episodes were interesting enough for me to pick up disc 3. Anyway, point is, what I found out about Lost is that there are a bunch of characters that need to be explained. While it dragged the story (all four episodes in disc 2 totally ignored the fact that there is a "monster" on the island or whatever it could be) I realized that the story couldn't go on unless I know who everyone is and why they are there.

From what I read of Lost, there's a chance everyone is there for a reason and they are part of something bigger (I don't know how much of this has changed through 2 seasons...no one ruin it for me!) So, I have to know everyone's background to understand the latter.

Heroes is probably going to be really similar.
