It's our time now, so like Dro said get with it or get ran over. Besides, we ain't the ones that came out with Chicken Noodle Soup, that was just a by-product of our influence up in Harlem. You wasn't holding it down right so you looked to the South for some influence to get a hit. I ain't mad at that, cuz we've definitely borrowed some things from you. Don't worry, you East Coast guys will have ya'll time again one day. Props to the real ones like Fat Joe and Busta who don't discriminate on Hip Hop.
The South is not carrying hip hop now. It's dumbing it down, making it watered down...Same ol song and dance. It's taking away from innovate artists who are original. How often do I need to hear a track about someone's rims, their chang hangin' low, and all they money they got to spend on their cars. It was ok when BG, the Big Tymers, and Cash Money were doing it in the late 90's. But almost 10 years later??? Still the same. Where's the creativity and originality?

You just described the state of hip hop from the north, south, east, and west. 90% of the stuff out now is materialistic BS.

Hell the only people that seem to be trying to bring hip hop back to it's glory days are the guys from Chicago. Common, Kanye, and Lupe.

That's true, but it is the South that is dominating the airwaves right now. Where's Outkast and Scarface when ya need them.

Wait wait wait, we're dumbing it down? Making it watered down? For almost 10 years? You say you're tired of hearing about wealth? OK ok, please tell me, what was the state of the hip hop mainstream landscape before the South came to prominence? Let's see how many parallels we can find. Oh yeah, and while you're doing that, find out where one of the most original and innovative rap groups ever came from and in what time period they had the most influence on a global scale.

There's also a reason why most of the new acts you see today are from the south, and why BET chose to have their inaugural Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta. They know on whose back HipHop rests.

By the way, we don't just talk abou rims, chains and cars. We talk about pimpin hoes and sippin purple drank a lot too.

That's what I was trying to say. All the stuff you claim the South is responsible for is perpetuated in every region.

A lot of people claim they miss the days when rap was about partying, dancing in the streets and having fun. Now that the South has taken it back there, it's hated on.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the pimpin and drinking part.

If BET is putting hip hop on the South's back, then I know the reason hip hop and pop music, in general, is struggling. There is other music out there that's not getting any spins, but yet hip hop is stagnant at this point. Why not try something else.

Anyways, I didnt know BET or MTV played music anymore...And radio isn't much better (how many times can I hear the same 4-5 songs for 6-7 months in a row).

I'm one of those who hate... Back in the day, at least the beats were nice... the beat behind "Gin and Juice" is a beat that takes some kind of talent to put together. The beats behind today's mainstream music is complete garbage and could be made by any 5 year old who has never seen the boards before.

However, southern rap is my favorite... not because of these crunk artists... because of Little Brother and the rest of the Hall of Justus. NC Baby!!!

Dawson's Creek had tremendous music consistently for six seasons. Saved has had one season and the music during the show was good at times, but that's about it. Right now, for me it goes:

                1. Dawson's Creek
                2. Grey's Anatomy
                3. What About Brian?

He got skills though. On the real, that dude has some major issues he needs to work on. Most notably his huuuuge ego. It's one thing to be confident in your abilities, but to insult other people when you don't get an award? That's just ludicrous.

He's got serious skills behind the boards no doubt... on the mic I beg to differ. I hate him on the mic forreal. He doesn't really belong there unless he wants to provide a light-hearted comedic verse to someone's already-spectacular song... "I See Now" by Consequence... check it out... that is where Kanye is at his best, and should only be heard in that kind of situation.

I was just reading through this, and I have to say one thing.

There is no way Tupac is the most overated rapper. Sure he wasn't insanely lyrical as say a Nas or Talib Kweli. The thing was him is in any song he did was the passion coming through. You can't listen to a Pac song and not feel it.

On the rap note, Outkast is the most underrated artist in the history of rap. They put together a string of albums better than anyone else has ever done.

                          Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik - Amazing.
Atliens - They improve their flows and the producion is ridiculous.
Aquemini - I think it's the worst of the 4 but that isn't a big deal its still a great cd. More out there than Stankonia even.
                          Stankonia - Amazing.

Oh yeah and Soul Food is classic.

Kanye is aight. His first album had some classics on it. Through the Wire is my favourite off that. Production wise, he's amazing of course. I don't too much like his whining. He's gotta stop that. Wow, eminem the G.O.A.T I don't think so. When he was the hottest thing going, he was real good. No one can deny his rhymin' ability but to say he's the G.O.A.T is crazy. Rakim was the first MC I heard to bring that smooth rhyme flow over beats. He's in my Top 3 for sure...

Rakim is coming out with another album titled "The Seventh Seal"... we'll see how he goes against the test of time. CL Smooth did a pretty good job of that on "American Me".

To me, CL is one of the all-time greatest, but again, I can't say THE greatest. It's way too tough a choice.
