That has nothing to do with it at least as far as I'm concerned. I've been to plenty of baseball games and while they are a lot more fun in person than on tv, the actual game just screams boredom. You see guys standing around for hours who do nothing on the field, hear people talk about the latest formula they've used to figure which pitcher is best against what situation, watching in between bats guys adjusting their helmets, gloves, take practice swings and then finally get around to hitting. Couple that with the long *** season and I just have no idea how anyone can stay awake or keep watching long enough to make it to the end.

Oh yeah, homeruns are boring, give me a good defensive Torii Hunter-type play over a homerun any day. I never got why people were so infatuated with homeruns. Once you've seen one you've seen them all.

Agreed on all points... Especially the homeruns and more importantly the players adjusting helmets, fixing batting gloves, and pretty much playing with themselves before they get around to the box for one freakin pitch.

Why can't these guys just step in on their at-bat and be expected to face 1 to 7 (or more) pitches right away... it would just add to the whole duel at the plate between the batter and pitcher... Make things much more exciting.

I think baseball is the ultimate team game for this reason alone:

In any other sport, you can put your best player in to win the game for you. The Lakers always give the ball to Kobe with 10 seconds left. Peyton is always looking for Harrison in the 2 minute drill. Gretsky would always get the puck in the final minute to set up the game winning goal.

In baseball, I bet the Cardinals would love to have Pujols up there everytime the game is on the line. But they cant. Each guy gets his turn, making the collective skill of the team more important than in any other sport.

Great elitist attitude. It's a sport, nothing more, nothing less. And you're crazy if you say that baseball is more of a team sport than football.

I find baseball to be one of the most entertaining sports around. Most people don't understand it or the chess match that's occuring between pitcher/batter or what the pitcher/batter is looking for in all instances. Football is right there with it, but on a much more aggressive level. Basketball however is terrible IMO. The only time I can watch it is during March Madness when I have money on it.

In the end, it's just an opinion. I can sit down and watch any baseball game and be entertained. When it comes to football it has to be the Steelers or a team that has a few of my FF players (again, has to do with money).

The argument for and against baseball is just like the argument about checkers and chess. Checkers is more accessible to most people, therefore is more popular. Chess takes time to learn, understand the nuances, and is more of an acquired taste.

I would be willing to bet that the majority of people who dislike baseball also prefer checkers (or something similar) to chess.

Soccer is the greatest sport ever invented.

Teamwork is a must, no stoppages (time keeps running), very fluid play, and it's very entertaining.

yuck.... the half is over at 45:00 and 90:00... I like sports that count down... and have clear end times... not referee decided ones.

...but you just keep proving my point. Things you don't understand, like the formulas you mention, are boring. People standing around...? The whole thing is based on a batter-pitcher situation, and once the ball is in play, then it becomes one of the most team-oriented sports you have. It's not about the "one on one" or the "iso" but about the TEAM.

You see that in other sports... but individuals excel better in other sports than baseball when it comes to a team's success.

It's cool, you're not the first, and you won't be the last, to find baseball boring. But I've always found those that do don't have the attention span nor the ability to appreciate it's mathematical beauty on the field.

And that's not even discussing the skill it takes...

In terms of offense, there is little to no teamwork in Baseball.

Just because our country can't produce quality soccer players doesn't make it a bad sport, it just means we suck at it.
