    Jay-z is a Liar!

Jigga is a liar, worst retirement in history. There's no reason to pull a fast one like that, if you're retired stay retired. Otherwise just keep puttin' out good music

    Album Title: Kingdom Come
    Tentative Release date: November 22

Ah well, like he said, "Y'all cats got less then a month to get your s*** together". I'm curious about the production list, Just blaze did that first single, "Show Me What You Got". Most likely he's gonna get Kanye and Timbaland on it. Hopefully his budget doesn't prevent him from using lesser expenisve cats(i.e 9th Wonder). He better get Primo to do something.....

Come on now, if you did'nt predict this coming, you outta be shot. He's simply emulating one of the greatest icons of all time. Micheal Jordan. Plus he really never stopped rapping. He was always guest appearing on songs for the past 2 years. He's still been touring as well. The man never really left if you ask me. It was all apart of his stratergy.

Right now, I'm just wondering how many copies will be sold. Will he go Diamond, 5x platinum, will it be a disaster?

I liked JayZ's past music better.
Rap in general has gone downhill since Biggie and Pac died. Only Eminem and Dre have produced anything worth listening to over the past 5 years or so.
Nowaday's rap or hip-hop sounds like a bunch of circus instruments while some guy barks like a dog.
There's no rythem or catchy beats to any of the new tunes out there.

Heck, I was watching Chappelles lost episodes a few weeks ago and he did a skit on Tupac. The fake Tupac song they played was the best hip-hop/rap tune I've heard in years. That's pretty brutal when a comedian can come up with something better than the garbage rappers we have now.

      /End of old-man rant.

Hey if Frank Sinatra can come out of retirement and have arguably a BETTER 2nd full time career then i'm not gonna fault Jay-Z for making his "comeback".

LOL that's true Money. Southern rap has taken full control of hip hop right now though.

hehe I did see it coming, although not in the fashion you're suggestion Graphik. That "Jordan" comparison went right over my head. I know that the "Kingdom Come" title makes reference to the Superman comic which Superman returns to save the earth.

How did the reference to his Airness go over your head?

dunno, good question........ I guess at the back of my head I saw the parallel between the two, just didn't take it literally

I'm surprised the album hasn't leaked yet.

I guess. I know I'm showing my age but I loved some of the hip-hop or rap back in my era:

Snoop Dog, Dre, Ice Cube, Pac, Biggie, Lil Kim, LLCool J, Run DMC, etc.

Tunes like "California", "How do you want it", "Gin and Juice", "Boomin' System" were awesome. They had some great beats and stuff you could actually move to. The stuff that's out now I don't find very catchy.

Anyway, I know it's all personal preference. Kudo's to those awaiting his latest album.

Hopefully, Jigga Man's laid off the drugs for this album. He's been sounding like he did on The Blueprint 2, all slow and uninterested.

I'm also not crazy about the single. I think that's because Just Blaze's act has grown tired.

Umm wow really? What are you listening to come to that conclussion? Eminem has only made good music the last few years are so? Obviously you need to turn off MTV/BET and the Radio. I guess we all have our opinions .

                            Re: Jay-z is a Liar!

The entire retirement talk was to get people to buy the Black Album and go to his Farewell tour. I doubt he ever really seriously comtemplated retiring.

I think it was good for Jay-Z to take some time away from music. His lyrics had gotten really boring and repetitive. Instead of hearing tales of the street I felt like all I heard on his albums were advertising for the ROC and how he was the greatest rapper. Hopefully Jay-Z can take his lyrics back to the Reasonable Doubt album and rap about something interesting.

There is no way his album will go Diamond. First of all I think his highest selling album is "Vol. 2" at only like 5x platinum. Secondly no one buys albums anymore, it is all about downloading illegally. It is almost impossible to go Diamond these days. I mean Justin Timberlake who is a far bigger star than Jay-Z and has two huge singles off his new album has no chance of Platinum. I think the ceiling for a high selling album in 2006 is 7x platinum. Lastly rap albums are notorious for having no "legs." Meaning they generally sell big for the first few weeks and then plummet down the charts. There are exceptions like Kanye West and Outkast albums but there albums had huge hit singles and sold to a panopoly of people. It'll be interesting to see if Jay-Z has that kind of impact, it'll depend on his first few singles.
