Need some computer help
Last night I tried to play a burned CD from a band my wife liked. It froze up Media Player, and now no mp3 or video files will play in Winamp or WMP. I also cannot access Device Manager as it says the .dll file is missing. What's the missing .dll?
Did you try reinstalling media player?
Is this xp? You could go back to a previous restore point from when things worked if you're using xp (and restore points are turned on).
To be on the safe side, you might want to run a spyware and virus scan too. -

Most of those .dll files are in the Window folder(in sys32 maybe?)
Just copy and paste the .dll in the media player folder? I had something like this happen to me also with an installation program.

No it doesn't, it just says WMP cannot play this file and takes me to some useless like.
I ran a system scan and I isolated the problem. However it asks for my XP Professional Disc. Which is first weird because I don't have XP Professional. The other bad news is I have no idea where that disc is, since we have moved since I got this lap top. Anyone have any suggestions from here?
Would it be illegal to download an ISO for the disc?Comment

Why does it ask for the disc? for a certain file? PM the file it asks for, I can grab it from my xp pro disc.Comment

Yeah, 27 minutes on hold is completely unacceptable..............28 minutes..............

Have you tried a system restore of your computer to see if that fixes it?
